Helps with my impulse control.
I was drinking too much. I was unhappy. Every morning I would say "ugh, yuck, that is the last time!" By 7pm the next day, I would be buying more wine or beer. So I wanted to stop drinking but I struggle with impulse control. I was lurking on a subreddit and someone mentioned "well, have you tried a timed lockbox?"I ordered one of these immediately because I knew this would work for my personality type. I wouldn't maniacally try to get it open. Once it is locked, I am not necessarily content but I also won't force the issue. I will just get used to the idea that I CAN'T access my money.Anyway, this has been the perfect solution. I haven't had any alcohol since this got here. And as soon as I hear my inner dialogue start negotiating with why buying alcohol would be a good idea, I set the timer on this box until the next morning. I have been setting it til about 5am which is a good time because my craving will be over and if I need actual groceries, the card is accessible again in the morning.I highly recommend this product. I am happy that there is a pragmatic solution rather than just trying to "man" through something. It's okay if we need a little help!Anyway, it is big enough to fit my wallet, passport and my phone if I wanted to put that in there. There is a space for a charging cord to go into the box if you want to charge your device while it's in storage. You can set the timer for minutes, for hours or for days. I use the plug but it also has a battery option. I am just too lazy to buy batteries. With me not buying alcohol, this paid for itself in about 2-4 days.

Great quality!
Easy to set time. Nice to have the ability to override if necessary.

It helped me with self discipline.
It helped me with self discipline. Worked really well. Although it’s prob a cheap product to make? Idk, doesn’t matter—It felt pretty expensive in my hands. I think its awesome the company charges to open it, it makes me not want to open it even more.

They provide you with the tools to unlock it
You can unlock it by paying $20 (they say the money is donated to a charity which is pretty cool, as long as it’s actually true). I’ve come to realize that this feature—the get out of jail (not) free card— sucks. I mean for one, it’s a scientific fact that willpower is a finite resource. It eventually runs out for everyone. I feel like this is definitely something this seller knows which is why they’ve used it to their advantage. Well, I guess to the charity’s advantage. Let’s think about it. They are marketing a metal lockbox because it is more difficult to break into than the generic plastic ones. So, they understand their audience is one that already has a tendency to lack self control and these buyers opt for the metal option because they don’t trust themselves to not break it, or do whatever it takes to open the box (breaking or prying open the plastic ones). Aka this is specifically marketed to people that are almost guaranteed to pay that $20 fee multiple times. But just to be sure, they make paying it very easy to do—by providing you with an actual get out of jail free card where you just need to scan a quick QR code and enter your credit card info. Even if they’re not forcing you to pay extra, they know that once those cravings intensify, you will very likely pay if you’re given an opportunity to do so. To make the opportunity just a little more tempting, they give you a free pass to unlock it early for the first time. After doing it once you are much more likely to come back and do it again in the future (also a proven fact). Last thing is that you will negotiate with yourself that, since the money is going to a good cause, it wouldn’t be the worst decision in the world to pay the $20. So you pay it. Is anyone else wondering if this money is actually being donated to a charity….? Anyways, if you’re planning on buying this because you struggle with with addiction and think it will help you build willpower, I advise you to think again. It’s a grantee that you’re gonna spend a extra money unlocking this thing before the time runs out. If you want to hold yourself accountable, get one that doesn’t have this feature. The Ksafe timer lock box would be a better option than this one. If you’re still set on buying this one, then an accountability partner would be helpful to prevent you from unlocking it early. Or another idea is to throw out the “get out of jail free card” before you get the chance to use it. I put quotations, but don’t let that fool you— it’s a literal business card. And while I’m at it, I also think the beeping noise is really loud and annoying when it counts down before locking or just when you’re pressing the buttons. The volume can’t be adjusted either. To be blunt, the solution to your problem is not a lock box—it is going to therapy so you can learn how to address/remove the triggers in your life and develop healthy coping mechanisms to avoid the behavior in the future.

Huge Fail - Do Not Buy! UPDATE
I received the lockbox on time, but unfortunately it was already locked and set to open in 50 days.UPDATEI had to come back and update my (sort of) unfair review. I now believe that because of the muddled instructions provided, I accidentally set the lock for 50 days myself. I wrote customer support and received a much clearer guide to unlock it in this "emergency".The box is sturdy and really works well. After taking my daily allotment of smokes out, I set it to unlock the next day. This has enabled me to cut back from 30+ cigs a day to precisely 9.

Just the self control I needed
I really like this lock box. I use it to keep from binging on snack food. It is just the right size for me to put in a week's worth of snacks and retrieve a couple things each day. I then hit the lock button which I have set to unlock the next day. It is easy to use and has really cut me back on snack binging.

Batteries are installed on the inside of the lid
For strict time-out occasions this lock box is great. You can put your child's phone in here for the night and they will be able to retrieve it in the morning, without having to bother you for a key or combination, both of which pose some security concerns. It can be powered by a USB-C cable or batteries that are inserted on the inside of the lid. If you use the USB-C without batteries, and unplug it the timer continues to function but it will not unlock until the time expires and you plug it in again. If you use batteries it will work seamlessly as you expect, unless the batteries die and you have to plug in a USB-C cable in order to unlock it. In all cases the timer functions properly. This is all that isn't intuitive in its operation.
