Revised: It works, and not too bad for the price.
The power cord did die out on me a few weeks after receiving the item, but now has been replaced, and seems to work. There is a noticeable increase in signal strength, but with this there is a trade off. Signals that are less than -70DBI are now no longer picked up, but signals that were -60DBI now come in at -48dbi. It has to do with how the amplifier works.Somehow I got the impression this was a 4 watt amplifier, but without the proper equipment to test it and a better understanding of all the different types of amplifiers, I only have my suspicions.

Does not produce rated power output, but for the cost, not bad.
I measured the output power from this amplifier using an RF power meter rated at this frequency. I measured this providing it with the rated input power of 10dBm, as per the specs. It produced an output power of about 1.1W to 1.2W, not 4W. I think the manufacturer is specifying the power it sinks electrically rather than the actual power it produces in RF out the antenna. For the price, I'll work with it as is. I was hoping for 4W output, but I can work with it at only 1W output. Thus, 3 stars only. Also, BE FOREWARNED - I see some people say there is no benefit, and I think it's worth mentioning that this device used SMA on one side and SMA-RP on the other. It's real easy to connect this and not realize the center electrode may not be making contact due to the RP nature of one of the connections.
