I had an opportunity to upgrade to the B5 18x56 and ended up keeping the C4 18x56 instead. The B5s are fantastic as most reviewers say - no doubt the highest quality - but for me, the C4 felt better in my hands, easier for me to view through (with contacts or glasses) and more balanced over the slightly recessed thumb areas under the tubes. They are also a little shorter than the B5. Optically I love the C4 - great for nature, astronomy, etc. I am not a professional guide - and if the peripheral 1-2% of the field of view is not 100% perfect, the only way I could ever notice that would be to try to look through them at an awkward angle to even see these areas in the first place. I am a very picky individual who pays attention to details, and in my job I use optics frequently to operate . I don’t feel like they are too heavy for use without a tripod, particularly if just walking around on a trail, etc., but for scanning the stars or looking through multiple layers of forest, use of a tripod is great. I feel the focusing is crisp and I love that I can dial focus through different depths of tree canopy in a forest. Image is bright, colors are beautiful - thrilled with this purchase - better than any other binos I was considering, and a “blind” test with my older teen sons both picked C4 as equal or better… Thank you Maven!

I was very sceptical at first because of the price, and also not having a fancy name. My son has vortex diamondbacks in 15x56 that cost around $550. so it was a toss up for me if the extra $200 would be worth it. I spent about a month searching the internet for reviews on the c4 18x56 and didn’t find many reviews on them. So because amazon has a great return policy I ordered them with the expectation that I would return them because they would not be worth it. I compared them to vortex diamondbacks 15x56, 12x50 and a 10x50 leupold. Surprisingly enough the light transmission at 500 yards was better with the mavens, colour clarity and sharpness of images is by far the best that i have tried thus far. yes they are heavier but not to the point that i can’t hold them steady. i was convinced that 18x56 binocular would be very blurred at a long distance because of the amplified magnification which would amplify my shaky hands. I’m sure some of the more expensive binoculars work as good or better but i can not justify paying $2000 or more for hunting binoculars. in the picture i have my vortex 12x50 for a size comparison and a photo that shows that they still can fit in a nice case. the only downfall is they don’t come with a nice protective case.

Outstanding glass, unbelievable clarity and light transmission, and even though the outer casing is Maven’s low end - great quality, nice nonslip surface. These binos would be a bargain at double the price

Well constructed, love the 18x but it is heavy for those without horses and hiking in. Love them, careful when ordering a bino harness. These are bigger than most offer.
