Looks and works great!
Absolutely perfect, I know it's pricier than digital/plastic alternatives but it looks and works great.

Dissapointing "wooden" quality
When the description says "beautifully crafted traditional wooden" what it really means is some sort of compressed-fibre board with a matt plastic veneer which already has worn off one of the top corners. True, the description doesn't mention any sort of surface finish - unlike the mahogany finish ones - however "beautifully crafted traditional wooden" and the nice glossy advertising image don't evoke thoughts of a matt plastic finish. And it is worth noting that the nice shiny image displayed is actually not this product - evidenced by the lack of the bell mechanism in the picture. I bought this based on wanting one that didn't look plastic, and like the option of a bell. Am currently undecided about it's future, hence have not used it yet so cannot comment on the mechanism. Apart from the "beautifully crafted traditional wooden" part the device does seem to be good quality, as I would expect from Wittner and at this price.

Not Really The Quality To Match The Price
I bought this as it is the one my wife wanted, and she is happy with it.It goes 'tick-tock' at set intervalsIt goes 'bing' at different set intervalsIt's a metronome with a traditional brand name on it.It is very very light, yes its in a wooden case, but it's low quality wood (looks ok though)the mechanics couldn't be built any cheaper, very very flimsy plastic internals, very cheap 'tinny' metal parts.I'd be surprised if the manufacturing costs for this were more than £5, so at £75 it's a hell of a premium for the name!I was aware of all this before I bought it reading other reviews, but all the same - save your money, either:a) Go find an old one that's solidly built for the same money - a much better investmentb) Buy the plastic cased one for £30 less

Very Satisfied
The picture does not do this product justice. The colour and finish is black piano lacquer and will coordinate well with any black piano. Metronome has a nice loud tick and for my money is much better than any smartphone app. Just having this clicking away in the background when playing helps enormously in keeping on the beat and of course you've got visual as well as audible prompts with the swinging pendulum.

A good product overall
The case may not be what you may expect if you are comparing it with the finished hard wood type on offer, A good high gloss finish although the wood underneath seems lower quality than you may expect , still a good product though and functionally excellent.
