FIRST ALERTL1 WiFi Water Leak and Freeze Detector

I purchased 6 units with extensions, 3 bathrooms, Kitchen, Utility Room, Garage (heat pump water heater and air handler). The reason for the purchase was to receive a discount on my homeowner insurance, and now I am glad I did.Pro ... Performance is constant monitoring for water leaks no matter where you are. Easy to install if you using the just the main units, Loud enough beeping when water is detected, Setup is straight forward, programming App is standard stuff so it basically easy to have full Wi-Fi connectivity in just a few minutes. Knowing you are warned if a leak is present give you a sense of relief that make it a good safety issue. After everything was installed and working. The Cabana Bath, the right J trap sink started leaking, I was notified by the app which saved me a lot of aggravation and money since the cabinet is a solid wood free stand furniture.Cons... Price of the equipment - I consider upfront cost is on the high side for what you get but it turns out that it did save big $$$$, Connection of the extensions wires is easy to the main unit but fishing the lines to correct position for a leak detection can be trying.It turns out to be a cost effective insurance solution.

If you want or need to cover a larger area for your water leak detector, this is the ticket, being designed for the First Alert sensor. It was easily found on the Amazon site - though the manufacturer lists other retailers (such as The Home Depot and Walmart) which sell this, my searches were unable to find it.

I already use non-wifi alert devices that use 9v batt and last a long time. They are not wifi connected but have a loud alert that can be heard throughout the house. I bought (2) to lower my insurance premium. But if these will not stay connected to wifi and drain batteries, there is no point. Like other reviewers I tried to test the devices simulating water (on a dish). The device has an audible alert but I never received a notification. No way will I trust these devices to alert me via the app to take action. If I dont save at least the cost of these devices with my insurance (by leaving them next to my wifi hub, I will be returning them.

When detecting leaks, timeliness is important. I am very disappointed that emails are the only notifications, not texts. Have installed a lot of leak detectors, this one is the only one that has this limitation.I also would've preferred plug in over battery.

Uses 2 AA batteries instead so I figure battery doesn’t last as long.
