Awesome
The first one I received was broken and I was upset but the amazing customer service resolved my issue. The one I have now is amazing and does everything I hoped. On the receiving side of the radio it picks up weak signals very well.I am able to reach my local repeater over 30 miles away.Sound quality surprisingly great.I love the simple plug and play with chirp. If you look into it you can change the boot up screen to a custom photo.I didn’t have to read the manual to understand how to operate this easy to use radio.I’ll be 100% honest I only got this radio for the crystal exposed electronics because it brings back memories of old school gameboy colors and other devices back in the day.Boy was I surprised how much this affordable radio could do and it brings so much nostalgia.I wish more people made radios with clear exposed electronics. This radio out preformed some of my more expensive radio I own and that’s crazy.Everything you get in the box with this radio is refreshing I hate having to buy extra stuff but with this kit you get everything you need.Great customer service and great little radio.

Cool Radio but...
This radio is pretty cool but has some issues. First, the initial programming (GMRS) in not compliant with FCC guidelines (the factory settings are all incorrect). This radio will transmit on a litany of frequencies outside of GMRS and ham bands. I put this thing on a spectrum analyzer and the spurious emissions are off the charts so I don't know how this radio ever got its FCC certification. All that being said, it seems to work well. Don't expect to learn much from the manual, it is relatively useless. Having air band receive is a nice touch, and I like the MDC capable "roger" tone though I do not think that the MDC "packet" is using any usable specification - but is sounds cool. Also note that it does NOT have 512 memory channels - it has 256. You can fix the initial programming easily using Chirp software.Bottom line: A decent radio for SHTF comms but I would not want to use it regularly in "normal" operations due to the likelihood that you might interfere with others due to the spurious emissions problem.

Deaf on 220!
First one I got was decent on 220 MHz but the latest ones are garbage. It works great on AM aircraft but I only wanted it because it was able to at least monitor 220. but nope. Also transmit is absolutely filthy on the spectrum analyzer.

No Direction On How To Program
Finally found a discussion group that lead to an email address and they sent an updated chirp link. Tried to post that email here but Amazon rejected my review to try and help everyone. Like the fact it has an SOS button and Aviation freq monitoring like my old ICOM base rig.

Airband
This Raido is very good for the price. Sure it feels cheap in the hand and the materials are cheap however it's a very capable Raido with a good receiver and average transmitter. The color screen is very cool looking and it's been a reliable Raido the past few months now. It comes with everything you need in the box. I upgraded the antenna to a 42 inch telescope antenna sold separately. The stock antenna is poor but inexpensive to upgrade make sure you buy a good one to get the most out of the Raido in my opinion. USBC charging is a good bonus too. Airband works best with a better antenna so remember to shop for the proper frequency range.

Spurious
Not bad if you want to transmit on four bands at one time . I really wanted to love this . Just skip it

Good for the price. READ THIS IF IT IS NOT TRANSMITTING!
I received one of these and it worked great after programming with Chirp. I was able to use it on all the advertised channels. The second one I received was locked to only channels 1-22. GMRS repeater channels were giving me the “screw you” tone. You can fix that by pressing PTT and #8 while powering the radio on.

One has a dead mic right out of the box and is being returned but the other is working great.
Programed with Chirp and it worked great. Other than the issue with returning the one with the bad mic I am very pleased with the radio that does work. I have several walkies of different brands but I really like the size and features of these Talkpods. The crystal cases are my favorite. I bought these for my wife and myself to use on vacations as well as around the farm.
