Live On Ten Legs

Essential for all Pearl Jam fans...
I have my partner to thank for getting me into Pearl Jam years ago - and I'm very glad that she did."Live on Ten Legs" is essentially a sequel to the 1998 album "Live on Two Legs" and was recorded at different shows during world tours between 2003 and 2010.Most of Pearl Jam's recognisable classics are present, as well as a number of tracks from their latest album "Backspacer."Vedder is on top vocal form as usual, although he doesn't quite sing with that same deep vocal growl he possessed in the early days. Perhaps this is a reflection in the changing times; Pearl Jam's music is less heavy and more melodic nowadays when compared to their grunge material of the early 90's.Best tracks include "State of Love and Trust," "World Wide Suicide," "The Fixer" and of course "Alive."Overall, "Live on Ten Legs" is a sublime album. It will rightly sit amongst the best in Pearl Jam's live material. Finally, the album packaging features images of the band live with a gatefold opening inside revealing photos of road crews used during the tours.

Great live album
Live recordings from Pearl Jam aren't that hard to come by since there are plenty of bootlegs out there and for a long time Pearl Jam have made their concert recordings available as a download. But this and Live on Two Legs are official live album releases from the band so the audio quality is top notch and the set list varied. I'd be hard pushed to pick the better of the 2 but they do compliment each other very well so it's worth getting both. Would love to own both on Vinyl but they go for a pretty penny used so could really do with a re-release.Anyhow, fantastic album!

As an introduction to Pearl Jam’s on-stage prowess, this is a tidy effort.
A sequel to 98’s Live on Two Legs, this LP collects18 live highlights recorded between 2003 and 2010. If you've seen them you'll know their live shows are all about force, energy, the experience, which is captured here. There are five Ten-era tunes, four from their most recent (at the time) outing Backspacer, nothing from the unpopular No Code and a track or two from the rest. As an introduction to Pearl Jam’s on-stage prowess, this is a tidy effort.

PJ's best live album
Pearl Jam's best live album in my opinion. Great mix of songs and some great covers fans may have not heard before, and excellent recording quality. Stick it on, sing along and pretend you're at a show!
