Finally a wireless HDMI option that uses power lines instead of Wi-Fi! Excellent!
OMG! Finally! I’ve been using wireless products for years to access my virgin tv TiVo from the main living room into my day room/kitchen. I’ve gone through 3 different wireless systems. All worked but the picture was never as good as this item. I wanted to find another solution to wireless and I didn’t want to go down the route of getting virgin to drill another fibre cable around the house and into the day room and where the tv is on the wall, it would just show and just look messy. So the main issue I had with wireless was they use the same frequency as Wi-Fi routers. This caused my 5ghz network to take a speed hit. In steps this item. Wow. The fact that it uses the power lines means that there’s no unnecessary extra Wi-Fi networks in the home, my Wi-Fi is back to full speed getting the 500mbps I should have been getting and now I have an excellent clear virgin feed to my day room. It comes with an IR receiver and bolster which you can use to control the box from the other room (or control whichever device you will be using) and I used the IR receiver etc and worked fine, but I know the virgin remote can do Bluetooth so I set it up to do so and I don’t need the IR receiver or blaster anymore. Everything working great. The picture is stable and the best I’ve ever had, it’s literally like I’ve run an HDMI cable across the house. Amazing. Remember that this is using the power lines in your house, so how well it works also depends on your wiring. I rewired my house ten years ago so no issues at all.

Not compatible with my Sky+ HD at 1080i
This ought to be a great way of sending an HD picture from one part of the house to another but sadly, in my case, it proved not to be compatible with my Sky+ HD box in 1080i mode. The problem was that the picture would stutter at least once every three or four seconds, often more frequently. e.g. watching F1 a car would suddenly jump back a few feet; watching any programme the rolling credits at the end of the show would jump up and down the screen. I fiddled around with the settings on my Sky+ HD box and found that the picture is smooth when the Sky output is set to 720p. It's not awful at that resolution but the picture is noticeably softer than at 1080i. The 720p limit makes this device much poorer value for money than if it worked as advertised. I did contact Marmitek support who sent me a firmware upgrade but that made no difference, to which they said, "Unfortunately this is all i can do at this point". At that price I expect better customer support. So, it may be that your setup works fine at 1080i, and since Amazon have such a good returns policy you could give this system a go and return it if it doesn't work to your satisfaction.

It's okay but not good. And it's way overpriced.
Just to start this is way overpriced. However, at the time of writing this there is simply nothing else that does the same job.The picture quality is good. Really good. I suppose that is the main thing you need. However there are problems. The boxes are too big for what it does. Way too big.Given the plug needs to go into a wall socket, the cable is way too short. There should be no reason why it can't be longer. I'd also expect there to be a passthru plug so you can plug it in and plug something in on top of it (you get this with most powerline plugs).Every so often the picture on the receiver box will blank, and it looks like the box 'resets' / loses connection (the TV screen goes black, then displays 'HDMI', like it's just switched to it). This happens every time I go into the guide on Sky but also happens randomly while watching. It's incredibly annoying as you're losing 3 to 5 seconds of whatever you're watching. There is also a noticeable delay, on the receiver, between pressing buttons on the Sky control and you seeing the result. This is not just 'the way it is' as the last solution I had never had this issue, so the problem here is again the box.So, this is a good idea (transmitting the signal through the house electrical wires) but its executed lazily. Not a lot of thought has gone into design or the user experience. My advice is to look around and see if you can find something else. This isn't a bad system, but it's just not a good one.UPDATE: Almost every night I have to fiddle with the receiver (primarily) and sometimes the sender. The receiver is only turned on when it's needed. The sender has to be on all the time (otherwise I wouldn't be able to watch the TV in the living room at all).Issues are white static, blue screen, blue screen with audio only, stuttering video or just a black screen. The fix is one of switching to the other source and then back, powering off one or both boxes or unplugging one or both boxes. A combination. All of them. No idea. Eventually it works.Buy something else. Don't go through what I have to.
