Really nice gamepad
I really like this gamepad and use it for all my retro gaming now. The joypad has a fantastic positive clicky action. The rest of the buttons also have a nice action and the unit overall is of good quality. You can either use it with the supplied 2.4GHz dongle or switch it to Bluetooth. Not had any latency issues with the dongle.

An almost perfect retro controller, offering something different to usual SEGA & Nintendo pads.
I’m an unashamed retro gaming nerd. I still play the games I was first playing in the early 1980’s, across pretty much all of the mainstream consoles that I still own. I’ve got more than twenty game controllers in my home-office. But, and this is a big but, I’ve never owned any SNK Neo Geo gaming product. Not the AES cartridge bases system, the Neo Geo CD or the Neo Geo Mini that is currently available. As such, I’ve never used any of their game controllers. Yes, I’ve played many SNK arcade machines, but never used their home controllers so had no idea what I was missing out on. But that wasn’t an issue to me as I didn’t play Neo Geo games. That was until I discovered that I had access to the Amazon Gaming service via my Prime subscription, and on there are dozens of classic SNK games such as Metal Slug and King of Fighters.Suddenly, I had justification for buying the 8BitDo Neo Geo Wireless Controller.8BitDo are big name in retro gaming controllers. They’ve produced several big selling game pads for several systems, compatible with many formats such as Windows, Android and Nintendo Switch. The SN30 and Pro 2 that derive from the SNES and the M30 which is a SEGA Mega Drive / Saturn style controller are all well received controllers. I’ve got both the Pro 2 and the M30 for playing Nintendo and SEGA games. I’ve also recently bought their N64 controller wireless conversion kit that allowed me to take one of my original N64 controllers and make it compatible with my laptop. They’re a knowledgeable company and the Neo Geo controller had been greatly anticipated.Compared to many of their other controllers, the Neo Geo pad is keenly priced. The RRP is £10 less than that of the Pro 2 for example. What you get for your money is the Neo Geo wireless gamepad, a USB-A to USB-C charging cable along with an adapter cable to convert the USB-A end to USB-C, a USB dongle that allows the controller to connect by 2.4g to your computer, and a simple instruction manual. The controller is a simple 4-button layout, so traditional Neo Geo, Nintendo, Playstation, Xbox style. It could be used for SEGA Dreamcast and Master System, but not Mega Drive or Saturn games. 8BitDo have added two shoulder buttons that weren’t on the original Neo Geo CD controller that it’s based on.The thumb controller is a rather unique D-pad that is almost like a mini joystick. It is so much better for typical arcade style games than the usually poor D-pad you get on Dual Shocks or most other controllers for that matter. This makes it perfect for fighting games as you can move the thumb controller smoothly to pull of special moves, something that can be difficult on modern joypads. Additionally, by pressing Select and either Left or Right on the thumb controller you can turn the D-pad into a left or right analogue stick. That was quite impressive.Ergonomics wise, the pad is generally very comfortable. The right thumb and shoulder buttons sit nicely, and the D-pad is great in action. I did feel a bit of fatigue over time in my left thumb, something which does tend to happen with me and older game pads. Maybe I’m just old, or I’ve become so used to modern analogue controllers.Pairing it with my laptop was easy. It connected by both Bluetooth and by 2.4g. You need the included dongle to connect by 2.4g, but it is the way I’d recommend connecting to a Windows computer. Although it connected by Bluetooth, Windows detected it as a 16 button controller and that caused a few calibration issues. With the 2.4g connection all of the SNK games I played were spot on.As retro gaming controllers go, though, I think this is superb. For the right games this is an essential controller. It won’t suit every game, but certainly anything made by SNK is a match made in heaven. I have my own personal favourite controllers from all of the ones I own, and the 8BitDo Neo Geo wireless controller has joined that exclusive club.

Awsome WIRELESS and CLICKY NEO GEO Controller
The media could not be loaded. This 8bitdo Neo Geo Wireless controller is a must have if You're a Neo Geo Retro Fan. It's working extremelly well with my Neo Geo consoles. The Best thing about this controller is that it's clicking like the original one. Delivered on time and I'm really pleased with this purchase hence I can enjoy playing retro games anywhere without the cable restrictions and it's a high quality controller. A++ If You want to use it with the Neo Geo consoles please make sure to have the right BT adapter and switch the Bluetooth at the back of the controller, don't use 2.4G hence it will not pair with the controller.See my images showing the adapter for wireless connection.

Inconsistent Micro Switches - Hit & Miss Depending on game.
While the Controller feels great in the hands, shoulder buttons feel nice and face buttons nice and large, controller perfect for platform games and beat em ups / emulators due to large face buttons. The dpad takes some getting used to due to using microswitches, some games its preferable (beat em ups) but other games it can slow down your play/movement, like Metal Slug plays better with analogue stick control where as sonic/mario with dpad on this controller is pretty good.Issue I am facing is inconsistent micro switches for dpad, while with micro switches it is easier to pull off quarter moves than regular dpad, due to the switches all feel and sound different pulling off a down right quarter circle is very mushy compared to a left up, the down microswitch on my dpad just feels off (not enough click).Obviously everyones controller may feel and sound different, but I feel like I am missing alot of moves with this inconsistency due to the micro switches, not sure if its down to quality control issue, but I would need to buy and test several of these to find one that feels perfect for me.

How can you play Metal Slug without this clicky pad?
The only pad to play Neo Geo games. It's just so clicky!

Works great with the QMtech MiSTer triple stack.
Very nice control pad, feels very similar to the original it’s based from but a little different in the D-Pad, that being said it’s not enough to keep you up at night. My reason for not giving it five stars is that the plastics quality doesn’t seem as good as 8bitdo’s MD and SNES reimagined controllers.
