Speakman Outdoor shower works as expected and the product looks fantastic!
We installed the Speakman outdoor shower faucet set this past week and it looks great! We were already familiar with Speakman products as we use Speakman shower heads in our home's bathrooms so it was a no-brainer for us to consider Speakman for our outdoor shower. To begin, we had ready access to side-by-side hot and cold-water garden faucets (3/4 inch, each). We purchased a set of two washing machine hose inlet supply lines to feed the shower fixture valve. The installation instructions for the two handle shower fixture valve specifies screwing the fixture valve approximately 54 inches above the floor deck. Since we have children, we thought the suggested placement was too high so we lowered it by 12 inches (i.e., 42 inches above the floor deck) and bought a corresponding 12 inch brass nipple to compensate for the lower placement. We also had our water supply lines come from below the fixture valve so we simply inverted the fixture valve and we switched out the red and blue circular labels (red and blue index buttons) so that the hot water supply line would be on the left side with the red (hot) label button and the cold water supply line would be on the right side with the blue (cold) label button. We also wanted a separate handheld shower head so we purchased both a shower diverter and a separate handheld shower head.We plan to winterize the outdoor shower by doing the following steps:1. Unscrewing the supply lines to the fixture in the late fall season2. Unscrewing the drain plug in the center bottom of the fixture valve and draining any excess water from the valve3. Removing the shower head4. Removing the handheld shower headBelow are the various parts we purchased in addition to the outdoor shower faucet set to facilitate the do-it-yourself installation:1. Premium Stainless Steel Washing Machine Hoses with 90 Degree Elbow, 10 Ft Burst Proof (2 Pack) Red and Blue Striped Water Connection Inlet Supply Lines - Lead Free2. Anderson Metals Brass Garden Hose Fitting, Connector, 3/4" Male Hose ID x 1/2" Male Pipe3. Chrome-Plated Brass Pipe Fitting, Nipple, Schedule 40, 1/2" NPT X 12" Length4. Stainless Steel 304 Cast Pipe Fitting, Coupling, Class 150, 1/2" NPT Female5. 100% Solid Metal Shower Arm Diverter for Hand Held Showerhead and Fixed Spray Head ∣ G 1/2 3-Way Bathroom Universal Shower System Replacement Part (Chrome diverter)6. AquaDance High Pressure 6-Setting 3.5" Chrome Face Handheld Shower with Hose for the Ultimate Shower Experience7. Lots of plumber's tape / pipe sealant tape

Used to replace an old "Pittsburgh" basement shower
This shower was bought to replace the old "Pittsburgh" shower we had in the basement if our house. We started using the basement shower when we decided to renovate our main bathroom. The one in the basement hadn't been used in some time and had rusted out. I had looked at a similar system at home depot for around 60 dollars but it had terrible reviews and upon seeing it was evident that if was a cheaply made and probably deserved the reviews it got. This one we got from amazon and after receiving we were not disappointed in our choice. The shower neck is not only sturdy but is lined with a PVC pipe to help prevent rusting. The unit itself feels heavy duty and the handles turn easy and are easy to control the water flow. One word of caution our unit did not come with a shower head, I reread the description and I'm not sure why it didn't have the head, but we had another one that easily fit. The unit can be set up for the plumbing to come in from the top or reversed to the bottom. And it can be mounted by 2 screws on on the bottom part of the unit and a bracket on the neck. It installed easily and had no leaks when completed . It is a little pricey but in this case you get what you pay for and is well worth it for a basement or outdoor shower. Just be aware a shower head may need to be purchased separately.

Finest Kind
Excellent choice for an outside shower. The length of the riser/ gooseneck is, as others have noted, rather short, but a 12” galvanized nipple in 1/2” connected with a coupling allowed me to plumb it in at a normal height for the controls, and still looks just fine. (A chrome plated brass nipple would cost at least 6 times as much). If you’re not familiar enough with plumbing to know that you absolutely must use Teflon tape or pipe dope on the threads, you might want to leave the installation to a professional.I inverted the mixer body in order to plumb it from below, easily done and the plug to fill the unused side fits either one.Excellent quality casting, finish is just right for a semi “rustic” look. As we are on a well, I removed the little “O” ring inside the shower head prior to installation and the flow is outstanding, even though I plumbed it in using only 1/2” CPVC.

Well made, easy to install.
I am totally happy with this outdoor shower unit. I heeded the advice of previous reviewer‘s and used teflon tape for all the connections. If you are going to hook this unit up to garden hoses, like I did, you’re going to need to purchase 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch adapters to connect to the female end of the hose. You’re also going to need hoses with female ends at both ends. I knew I had purchased the right unit when my plumber, who was installing a hot water spigot on the outside of my foundation, commented on the shipping box that was sitting on my workbench. He said, plain and simple, “Speakman, they make good stuff.” That’s all I needed to hear. This unit has a simple rustic feel and look about it. It was perfect for the shower that I had built. Considering the price points of other units I had seen online this was a good deal.

Full pressure & flow
I had just purchased a similar product from Home Depot. The one from Home Depot dropped my pressure & flow to about half or even less. Regardless the Home Depot unit was not staying it had to go. I found this one listed on Amazon for more than double the money. I don't care it's worth every penny to get my shower working properly. Not only is my flow & pressure back but this unit is obviously a better-built product.

Nice having a pre made exterior shower valve ready to ...
Nice having a pre made exterior shower valve ready to install and looks good and works well. But the shower riser is to short. To have the shower head at about 6'6" it places the supply handles at chest hight for a 6 foot individual which looks silly and tough for small kids to reach. They should include an extension nipple of at least 12" or offer it as an extra at time of purchase.

Great outdoor shower. Love it
This is a sturdy shower we are using outside by our pool. It is basic but works great and it was a lot less than many other equivalent options. The pipe was not long enough so we had to add an additional pipe to make the shower the right height. It was not a problem, just an extra step and cost.
