Great DAC with a Modern Aesthetic
I found this DAC to perform just as well as those from Schiit Audio, but at a fraction of the cost, with a more modern & sleek aesthetic, and more compact design. The build quality is also top notch. I'm currently pairing it with the Audioengine HD3 & S6 subwoofer and they sound fantastic.

Outstanding sound/functions, for not much more than a dongle
This is a phenomenal DAC/AMP that does basically everything you could expect from a much more expensive device -- and does so with prowess. Sound is crisp, controlled, dynamic, harmonious, and wide. There is this unyielding thrust in the way the DL200 drives all my devices. It pairs masterfully with my Edifier MR4 through the balanced TRS outputs, which are virtually unheard of at this price point. Actually, I cannot recommend this pairing enough for a desktop setup -- the DL200 + the MR4, that is. It is just out of this world what you get by combining both devices, particularly considering the price.I also own the SMSL SU-1, which has (fairly) received raving reviews everywhere, and I have A/B-compared it to the DL200. I have also A/B-compared the DL200 via regular RCA and TRS outputs. To my ears, the SU-1 sounds grainy and tiny in comparison, cannot hold a candle to the DL200. There is also a good difference between the DL200 in RCA and TRS modes, the latter being significanly better. So, if you do buy the DL200, make sure to have active speakers with TRS inputs to make the most out of it.On the headphones front, the DL200's 4.4 jack is actually unbalanced. What that means here, however, unlike in other DACs where the unbalanced output is not as good as the balanced one, is that the 6.35 jack will function just as well as the 4.4. And function they do! The DL200 is able to imprint a full sound to my headphones that I cannot get from any of the other DACs I own, including my FiiO BTR7 with THX amplifiers. You end up having more possibilities of connection without needing to worry about differences in quality between the headphone jacks. I have a 6.35 to 3.5mm adapter tightly connected to the 6.35mm jack and that makes my life so much easier in switching between headphones.Note: where people refer to clicks/pops in sample rate changes between tracks (like from 48kHz to 192kHz) as a quality-control issue -- a 'quirk' -- affecting the DL200, please ignore. I must say such clicks/pops are not only something extremely minor, but are also common behaviour between virtually all of my other DACs. This is nothing that will affect your experience with the DL200 -- a purchase that I promise you won't regret.

Excellent performance but with quirks, same as all SMSL stuff
This is basically an upgraded SMSL C200. It has a few solid improvements -- newer ESS DAC chip, newer 3rd gen XMOS USB decoder chip, and the output level is 5V balanced instead of 4V balanced. Operation is basically the same as the C200. There are some differences that are neutral but which I don't care for -- larger footprint, smaller volume knob. The sound, to my ears, is undifferentiable from the C200, which is to say excellent in all the ways that matter. Then there's one big downside, which is that it sends an audible pop out the analog outputs when it's powered up, so you can't turn it on from a power conditioner simultaneously with your power amp or powered speakers, unless the amp/speakers have a turn-on delay. In my case, I'm using a Hafler Transnova power amp that has no protection relay or turn-on delay. So I went back to an SMSL DO100 for that setup and moved the DL200 to a headphone-only situation.

Worked well for what I needed.
The media could not be loaded. Cons: I just found this device now instead of 6 years ago. It would have saved me a lot of time, money, and headaches. The background video sounds and vocals are overlapping one another somewhat more now, than before, and I am having to sit on the volume control and quickly turn it down when the action picks up.Pros: No longer have any feedback or noise at all in my JBL LSR 305 studio monitors. My monitors have a sound and definition boost due to removing the other devices I had in-line to filter the noise out. There is no longer any noticeable lag between the video source and the sound. Sound quality overall is noticably better, even to my untrained ears.Over all I am very satisfied with this unit, I believe the value ratio is excellent for what you get. My headphones do not really require an amp but I am looking at the Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro 250 ohm cans for the future.

Broke after a few months
When I first got this I really liked it. I received it on 7/20/2024. The headphone amp quit working on 9/06/2024 and the only reason I purchased it is was to listen with my headphones so now it’s pretty much useless. With all of the good reviews I saw on this product, I really expected it to work longer than 2 and a half months and with only a 30 day return policy, I don’t think I can recommend this product. It’s a shame too, I thought it sounded exceptional for the price but I guess sometimes you get what you pay for with these more budget priced electronics. The seller reached out to me and gave me a full refund so I'm extremely satisfied. I've purchased another prouct from them and am hoping that I will have better luck this time around. Added 2 stars to my review because of the seller.

This is a great Dac at a really good price.
Things move fast right now with new products being released all the time. But as of writing this, the DL200 represents a fantastic value in terms a dacs. Love the features, it is a very competent dac for this price and the fact it come with such a good headphone amp is just the cherry on top. My only minor complaint is that I would have preferred XLR balanced outputs instead of the TRS balanced outputs. But it would have made it bigger and its so affordable I don't mind. If you are looking for a Dac to feed into and amp/powered speakers or a headphone amp, or better yet both, feel confident in this one.

crystal clear
this replaced an FX-Audio dac-x6mkii. sound quality is night and day. hooked to my beyerdynamic dt770 pro headphones, I can't even nitpick a complaint. The fx-audio headphone amp may have been slightly more powerful, but nowhere near as clean. compared to my internal soundcard on my PC, both dacs are worlds better, But the SMSL has a very clear edge.
