This looks good and is well made, it is not magnetic, so it won't rust. The wire terminals are a little fiddly, I used a PZ0 screwdiver for the terminals and a PZ1 for the fixing screws. I also put a line of silicone around the rear edge before tightening up to make sure it is watertight. European buyers, please note that this is for 12v dc, as used in the UK. It is NOT mains rated! Works well.

Appears to be well made and is quite attractive, one problem however (I should add, entirely of my own making), I accidentally dropped the bell push onto my wooden floor prior to fitting it, which caused the ceramic 'press' disc to become detached but this was very quickly reattached with a little adhesive. When fitting I would recommend ensuring that you leave enough wire protruding out through the outside of the doorframe to allow easy connection and later disconnection if necessary (as opposed to connecting the push and then pulling the wire tight back through from the inside thus making later disconnection and reconnection very difficult/impossible) it should be easy to coil this surplus within the hole bored through frame. In all I'm very pleased with this very classy looking bell push and have no hesitation in recommending to others.

The electrical contact is poor

This is a great, value for money, bell push. Looking at the other reviews, it has been badly treated. It is not waterproof - very few are, but if it is exposed to the elements, the brass would need to be protected well and cleaned regularly. I would further suggest some silicone to prevent water getting in behind the bezel. It is flush fitting. This means that it is flush with the wall, rather than proud of it. It still needs to be wired in, but this is done by widening the last inch of the hole the wire comes through, making the bell push flush with the wall or architrave. Don't expect perfection at under a tenner. It is still good value for money.

I had one of these previously but it stopped working after 12 years so I replaced it with this one. The size was a little bit smaller but perfect. My previous one had suffered a bit from rain stains, but after a tip I just wiped the chrome with some mineral oil and this is protecting it from stains. Very happy.

Left the below review a few days ago and since then the doorbell has stopped working completely. So it lasted about a week. Not going to bother asking for a refund as it’s more hassle than it’s worth, but would advise avoiding this product - it’s cheap for a reason. The diagram of the backplate in the instructions is different to the actual backplate you receive, so I had to guess how to attach the wires. Ended up asking a relative who has experience in electrics to fit it, and even they said it was very fiddly and is poorly designed. They managed to get it to work - it does the job and looks nice. This was after I’d been sent a new backplate as the first one was faulty (the screws wouldn’t tighten). As a side note, the seller could be a bit more polite - bluntly saying “why do you want to return it anyway” when I asked for a refund for the original faulty bell isn’t the best customer service, so they could work on that.

The product looks good is of solid material easy to fit.
