I wish I knew they made this years ago when I destroyed old hard drives before recycling. Easy to use and gives a good reason to keep old drives rather than destroying it throwing them out.

Easy to use. Computer had to be reset and all files removed, but this got the files safely off. Too bad restoring the computer is such a pain. But this device did safe files directly from the hard drive to another computer.

I had some photos I was trying to retrieve from old computer hard drives. Was easy to use. It was nice that it was compatible with multiple kinds of hard drives because I had two different ones I was trying to get stuff off of and this worked great for both of them.

This arrived dead out of the box. The power supply plug had a light on it that did light up, but none of the three lights on the unit itself ever did. Despite repeated attempts, disconnects and reconnects, etc. To be clear, this review is specific to the one unit that was delivered. It was non-functional, so it has to get the lowest rating. I'm open to the possibility that this was a rare occurrence and that a replacement would have worked. However due to a relatively urgent need to start using an old internal blu ray drive with my newly rebuilt PC that does not have external drive bays, I did not have time to muck around with a return/replacement situation. I needed to be working faster and did not feel like risking what might be a bad batch of units or even just the inherent extra delay involved. Instead I just returned this and ordered a nearly identical device that had already made my "final two" when selecting this one. It had same day delivery, thus avoiding any turnaround delay. As it turns out, it arrived on time and working, and by that evening I was up and running.

It worked for a couple of months but then died

My computer suddenly died and I purchased a new one but needed the files on the old hard drive. I used one of these 10 years ago but gave it away to someone who needed it so I bought this one. It allowed me to save all of my files, contacts, games and so on. It is simple to install and even a novice can use it. I took the old hard drive out of the computer and attached it and everything was there. This is a must have device. It is solid, easy to use and is compact. Can't say enough good things about it.
