One star deducted just for this poor design choice
The whole thing is made of plastic. It feels cheap, but works well. It's makes testing DWV systems simple. You can fill up the system from a convenient point in the house using a garden hose, and not have to fill from the cleanout on the roof. The test plug comes sealed and you have to drill out the nub at the top to be able to fill with a garden hose. You can still use it as a regular test plug if you have a garden hose cap. One star deducted just for this poor design choice. They should've included a cap and have it predrilled, or have it scored to be able to easily snap off.

Superior plug, seals much better than other plugs
I bought this plug to replace the one I got at Home Depot. This plug has a much deeper rubber surface, which allowed it to make a fully water-tight seal even in our rough drain pipe. The one from Home Depot only had a little bit of rubber, so it wasn't deep enough to make a good deal and the water leaked out over a few hours. This one is way better!

Hard to find!
These plugs will allow you to not only plug a pipe for test purposes, they have a threaded nipple to attach a pressure gauge or any other fitting needed for other purposes. These are an extremely good value and hard to find. All plumbers or pool repair people will find these invaluable.

Could be better
The Tightening knob is difficult to turn without the whole assembly turning which makes it unable to expand the rubber plug. This needs some lugs added to the lower assembly to grab onto to stop it from turning when tightening the knob. Some softer rubber would also help.
