Excellent router for advanced networking
MikroTik famously includes the full version of RouterOS with every product they ship, from enterprise grade appliances to these home units. It's an excellent way to get into advanced networking without spending a lot of money. In particular I was able to configure VLANs to separate IoT device, home devices, and work machines - something normal products would struggle with.

Mostly great
Upgraded my bandwidth to 1200 mb/s, so I needed something that could handle it. Bought a 1.25 gig capable transceiver and slapped it in. No joy. Disabled auto negotiate and manually set its advertised speed - now it works like a charm.99% of people reading this know what they're getting into. For those of you who don't, this probably isn't the product for you. It's not user friendly at all.

Repacked a used unit - STILL HAD SOMEONE ELSES CONFIG ON IT!
I was looking at replacing an aging Cisco RV320 and this looked like a good solution. Well, I was wrong. It received a unit that looked factory sealed but was a used - returned unit. Someone else's configuration was on it. Then when I went to factory reset all hell broke loose. It would not allow me to change the password, telling me the original password was incorrect (HOW DID I LOG IN THEN?!?!?). And it refused to change my IP range, instead locking up and requiring another factory reset. Sorry kids, I don't have time for this. I guess I will spend the money and get another Cisco! Thanks for nothing Mikrotik!

Good product for the price!
Have come to appreciate MikroTik's offerings. Got this to help isolate a few systems from the rest of my network - this unit is probably a better switch than a router - but it has Mikrotik's RouterOS on out of the box, which offers the kind of features I'd expect in an Enterprise level system. I'd probably not recommend this for every household, but its a great bit of kit if you've got experience and want enterprise like features. One small grouch - would be great if they'd include an SFP or choice of SFP with the base model, but I suppose that would increase the cost too.
