A cool CPU cooler
I was a wee bit unsure of how I would get on with the installation of this great looking bit of kit, but I need not have worried. Even a rank amatuer like me couldn't go wrong, it's that easy! I was installing on to an AM3 motherboard,and the fittings supplied fitted straight onto the clips on the motherboard, which remained in the case,no backplate to instal for AM2 or AM3 installations, just a small matter of cleaning off the heat transfer paste from the old stock cooler and spreading a thin layer of the new stuff that comes with the Coolgate 2011.Then it simply clips into position,don't forget to remove the plastic sheet that keeps the base of the cooler grease free prior to installation or it won't work very well! It should be noted that the fan needs to be taken off before installing otherwise you can't locate the clips onto the motherboard. The fan is easy to re-attatch to the cooler,and once the fan cable connector has been connected to the motherboard CPU fan connection you are ready to rock and roll.Cooler is wonderfully quiet in opperation, indeed I've forgotten the machine is even powered up a couple of times! I use "coretemp" to moniter the CPU temperature and the average temp has dropped by 6 or 7 degrees compared to the old stock cooler which I reckon is pretty impressive. It looks well good in the case and doesn't put too much strain on the motherboard which is upright in my tower case, weighing in as it does at around 650grams including fan. If the cooling isn't enough for your requirements there is enough space for a second fan on the other side, all you would need is a second pair of fan clips and a second fan, though this would increase the weight a bit.

Spire Coolgate 120mm CPU Fan
This is a HUGE fan and probably does the job, but its to big for the case I have so I have not fitted or used it (My mistake - keep it for another day). The fittings are not best placed and the fan will probably need to be removed should I ever try to fit it.

2011 is just the model number of this heatsink. Do not buy this if you need a heatsink for a 2011 socket cpu, it is not compatible
