It took a bit of finagling to get it into a hole I cut in my boat salon to control the volume separately from that in the cockpit, but in the end it works great. I also put one in the cockpit. These replaced L-pads that rusted very badly and stopped working. I hope these hold up better in this salt water environment. But if they don't I already have holes cut for their replacements.

I bought this Pyle Home Wall Mount Volume Control "used like new." It looked just like new, but didn't work. On close inspection, one of the speaker pigtail leads was not properly soldered. I fixed that and it worked. It works well in fact, with the minimum setting turning the volume off completely.This does not really fit a standard duplex box with all the wiring required. I put it in a 2-gang box, but it didn't fit that either. I had to notch away some of the box internal moulding. I got a standard 1 rectangle + 1 blank cover plate, and that fit nicely. Bottom line, it can be made to work, but takes a little effort.

I chose this unit as it is impedence matching, stereo and at a decent price. My only complaints about the product are that the unit is large and must be used in one of the 'low voltage' metal boxes that don't really stay in the wall well with a lot of use. The screw placement for the finishing cover required me to also drill out additional holes in the low voltage box to secure it in place wihtout bowing out the covers. Not a big deal, but just inconvenient. Once installed, the unit works well. Doesn't really have an off volume level, just a really, really turned down setting; not a big deal for me as I can shut off the zone from my receiver but something I was hoping for. The sound goes through clean and works well with nice adjustment through the many individual volume settings. Although it works well, I will probably be looking for a higher end unit when I go to do my whole house install down the road.

Works great. I used a low voltage new work box and had to cut it out a bit and move one of the wall clamps over to the other side to get the circuit board to fit through. Got a drill and a jig saw or hacksaw and you are set. Otherwise easy install. When the rotary switch is turned all the way down, I cannot hear any music, which makes it as a good as off. Love it. I leave this zone on 90 and usually only have to click the switch up to the 2-4 position. Sometimes I do blast it out and it works great. I am only using one channel for 2 Polk Audio RC80i 2-Way In-Ceiling Speakers (Pair, White) wired in series and they rock. May hook some more up in my dining room.

Bought it and installed it. It's really too big for a standard elec. box but will fit tightly which will cause it to retain its heat. You also need a magnifing glass to read the print for the wiring polarity on the board. Should have readable labels attached on the wire themselves. After installation, the right side volume was virtually inaudible until the knob was up to seven at which time it worked fine. Good if you don't want to listen at low volumes. Called service and they finally agreed was defective. Said send it back and they would send another. Dude! I just spend most of a day with this making sure it wasn't something I had done, and you want me to box it up, make a 30 mile round trip to the post office. Then pay postage AGAIN. Then wait a week for a replacement. JUST send another one with a postpaid mailer and I'll send the defect at MY convenience. So he sent me to parts. Parts said he'd have to look to see if they had one. Huh! This is the manufacturer. "Give me your number and I'll go see." That was 24 hrs ago. I'll run from Pyle from now on.
