BOSS Md-2 Mega Distortion; Extreme, Low-End Distortion for Modern Metal And Hard Rock

Tried this beast out in the music store and was sold. My first guitar pedal and for a good price. Quality is great and it built like a brick.

Absolutely love it. Very happy with this effects pedal.

I use this as a backup distortion pedal on my board in case my tube amp throws its towel in before a performance! It obviously doesn't sound the same as my Mesa But it does give a high gain tone with plenty of bottom end that would suffice for a show. The sound is quite heavy, full of bottom end and shouldn't leave you wanting any more gain-wise. It'll obviously never replace my Mesa but it is a good pedal in its own right.

I wanted a distortion (extreme type) and I'd looked at Boss's two metal pedals and I'd found good and bad write-ups for both of them. So I went into a music shop and tried them both out - along with some others. Drop D tuning (I'm a beginner!)- chug chug chug chaaaaa - an MD-2 gave me a surprise and had by far my favourite set of tones. I thanked the shop keeper and bought a pair of jack leads and a bag of plectra from him (Dunlop Tortex) because I knew I could save £20 on Amazon for the Mega Distortion! Came after 3 days - plugged it in - happy!

I've done a demo for this pedal and other pedals on my youtube channel - just search for David Dexter Pedals... I've left really bad reviews for the Boss Metal Zone and Boss Metal Core pedals as they are really bad. This pedal however I find is much better than those two. It doesn't struggle and choke when you add low end. The highs are not so fizzy. It's not the best distortion pedal and 4 stars may be a little higher than it deserves but it is twice as good as the Metal Zone and Metal Core pedals and at a lower price and I gave each of those 2 stars (I should have given them 1 star thinking about it). If you wanted to get a Boss Distortion for heavy music / metal - I'd recommend this one the most, it's pretty good.

Llevo un tiempo buscando un poedal de distorisión que fuese versatil, que pueda tocar heavvy metal tanto como algo de rock/pop. Y este pedal simplemente lo cumple a la perfección.

I bought mine used but apart from cosmetic wear on the exterior this thing rocks. It has it's own treble and bass with a distortion and even a seperate gain control. I have a fender champion 20 so I've been using the onboard metal tone and it's been great so far but the Mega Distortion pedal blows me away even in my little fender amp. Worth it if you want to enter the metal zone. (Not to be confused with the BOSS Metal zone pedal, that thing is s#!t

This is a great distortion pedal that can give you almost any sound you're looking for if you just have patience and take time to work with the settings. If you play in a band or just as a hobby and want a heavy distortion then this is the pedal for you. Don't let the negative reviews turn you away.
