solid; feels & looks expensive
This is much nicer than I was expecting. It has a solid feel - you wouldn't mistake it for vintage ivory, but it's not cheap, hollow plastic. It looks great and elevates a costume entirely.

Unbeatable for the price, my dear fellow
If you're looking for the iconic "Sherlock Holmes" pipe, this will certainly fit the bill (though, of course, those in the know are aware that this style of pipe was never mentioned in the Canon by Arthur Conan Doyle or drawn by Sidney Paget — it was the contribution of the great American stage actor William Gillette, the first internationally famous portrayer of Sherlock Holmes; a similar pipe can be seen in his now-rediscovered film "Sherlock Holmes" [1916]). This is a full-sized reproduction of a meerschaum calabash pipe (though made completely of plastic and not in any way suitable for smoking tobacco), and — for the price — has a lot to offer in terms of value for the money. The one I received was exactly as pictured, and comprised three separate components, just like the real thing: a stem, a curved "calabash," and a "meerschaum" bowl, each of which could be detached from the others, but which also fit together (pressure fit) very well. (You could glue them if you were concerned at all about their holding together, though there is no need to worry.) The only criticisms I can level at it are that the "calabash" portion is essentially white and doesn't really match the mottled fawn color of the real thing (get out your paint kit if you want to customize this prop to near-perfect levels) and that it is no longer, as in years gone by, bored through: the stem, gourd, and bowl lack any kind of airway, so there is no way to draw through the pipe, or (more on point) no way to use it as a soap bubble pipe, like Alfred Hitchcock did in one famous introduction to one episode of his immortal TV series "Alfred Hitchcock Presents." However, if you have the proper tools and are suitably handy, even that obstacle can be overcome, and you can have the most enviable bubble pipe of all time.

Its a great conversation piece
This was pefect for a "sophisticated" party I attended. Drank 50 year aged rum, smoked cigars, acted fancy, all while this pipe in my mouth. Its a great conversation piece. I did not buy this for a Sherlock costume, but I still got a lot of fun out of it. It shipped securely, was a great price and looks legitimate. You will not regret buying this pipe.

Ok for what it is worth
I made the mistake and didn't fully read the description. So when it arrived (in a very timely manner) I was disappointed that I couldn't use it to blow bubbles. But, for the price I got it for, it is an excellent piece for varying cosplays and costumes. It hasn't gotten much use yet, but it seems to be sturdy enough. If you want bubbles or to smoke with it - look for another product. If you just need it for a few uses, this is your product.

just what I need
This seller is gold! Superfast shipping and honestly described the item. I have been invited to a Steampunk event next month and decided I want to go as Sherlock Holmes since he is from the 1880s. I found a deerstalker on eb*y and now this pipe (which I'll paint brown). Perfect.
