Perfect for sealing in the natural color
Used to coat my maple/purpleheart guitar neck. Easy to apply, dries fairly quick and has sealed the purpleheart in its freshly cut vibrant deep purple color. Its been about a year, and the color hasnt faded at all. I coated it heavily until the wood stopped soaking it up, and then let it somewhat dry, and added a poly coat let it dry for 48 hours, added another few coats of poly, sanding with 600 grit between coats. After the last coat, sanded with 600 up to 2000 grit then lightly with 0000 steel wool. Plays like a dream, looks amazing feels great

French Polishing a 50 year old Henredon tabletop with Terlans Shellac
Terlans Shellac is a fine product for French Polishing Furniture. My two Henredon bedside tables were purchased in 1976. I have taken good care of them. Fifty years of daily use had thinned and dulled the finish. I have experience French polishing violins and mandolins with varnish and had good results. It took me 5 days with three polishings daily waiting two hours between sessions. After overnight drying, each morning I used 0000 steel wool to lightly sand then used a dust cloth to remove the filings before I began the French polishing again. On the sixth day I gave a final steel wool sanding followed by polishing with a microfiber cloth impregnated with Stewart-McDonald polishing compound. I did this lightly three times. The finish is restored and I am pleased.

I’m happy with how my instrument turned out
Very fast drying, to the point it becomes a little difficult to work with. Good appearance, A day After finishing the violin i assembled and left a few dents with my fingernails (accidentally). I’m guessing it takes much longer for it to fully cure (so be warned).

Great shellac blend for antiques
Used to repair a small blemish on a fine hand crafted dulcimer. Also used with linseed oil to refinish an antique mantel clock. Very good quality.

Old feel
This is easy to apply and it can be done with multiple coats with in between dryings. It gives your wood a yellow aged appearance while the wood is still new.

I have bought a used work bench for my garage that has a beautiful wooden top that needed some restauration work! Let's say that it has seen better days! Scuffs and stains all over it! After hours of sanding I was able to remove pretty much every imperfection on it. I wanted to protect it while giving it some depth, so I decided to use this product. The application is super easy, I applied 3 coats with a paint brush, allowing about 20-25 minutes between coats, and scuffing the surface with a green scotch brite between coats. It gave a beautiful, rich, semi glossy finish. It is night and days compared to when I bought the work bench! It is so beautiful that I don't even want to work on it anymore! Fortunately, I have so shellac left to restore it once more! It was the first time I was working with shellac, and I really like the glossy finish it gives to a wooden surface. Very nice product!

Bought this to apply as finishing coat after applying 8 coats of Danish oil on a guitar I am building ,,, Well When I went to use it all it smelt like was Alcohol it was thinner then water and when I applied it didn't leave a finish like Shellac or Varnish should. And before you say it , I am a pro luthier so I know how to use every type of varnish Shellac and oil , And I can say this is not a real Shellac its so diluted with Alcohol that its not any good for anything Please don't buy
