Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky [DVD] (2009)

Compusive slow burner
I'm not sure as to the authenticity of the facts used in this well told story but that doesn't really matter. This is a superbly cast and evocatively, sometimes gorgeously, filmed and dressed narrative that tells a quite usual story of love but featuring the famous names in the title. It burns very slowly and doesn't over indulge in dialogue but still works magnificently well as a film about love, power and betrayal. It doesn't really matter who it is about but it is good that it has a lot of great music and clothes.

Film good, DVD bad
I won't give any spoilers away, but Coco is one hard nosed b*tch. There's a lot of bonking. The ending is abrupt, with a massive jump in time. If you've seen 'Coco Before Chanel' you'll know what I mean. There was an issue with this disc not playing in my laptop. It was fine in a standard DVD player attached to my TV.

Remarkably dull on long-winded
Beautiful decor in the house but otherwise not a film I particularly enjoyed watching. Some elements of the film dragged on for too long for me and I just didn’t find myself drawn into the story. I loved Coco Before Chanel and thought this would be similar but it fell well short for me.

Coco After Thoughts
This film continues from where Coco Before Chanel left of, unfortunately this is more arty farty, and apart from Cocos making of her no 5 perfume and igors struggles, this is boring and bland.

a romance and music
Perhaps some people will feel my rating is a little harsh. The music is good and the story is OK, although I found it tried to be a little too "arty" at times. Enjoyed the DVD but it is not one I would go back to again and again to enjoy.
