We discovered this wonderment at California Roots Music & Art Festival in May this year. Backstage in the artist area there was a booth for La Republica Coffee where we met one of the founders, Mark Merthe who just happened to be serving samples of his creation. Seeing a sign that read mushroom coffee had me intrigued and a bit skeptical all at the same time as to what this concoction was about. The seven magical mushrooms (not those kind) inside La Republica coffee are intended to bring huge health benefits and it just so happens to get better absorption with coffee as well. Coffee with benefits, we’re down!I was game for what he was proposing considering that I woke up that morning with an annoying headache that just wasn’t going away with the typical latte and cannabis combo, so I was ready for any kind of relief that would help rid me of this irritation so that I could enjoy the day ahead. I kept hearing about the benefits of mushroom coffee and wanted to give it a try. As a side note, I hate the taste of mushrooms! So I looked up the best tasting mushroom coffee and this is it. I tried a cup of hot mushroom coffee and it was palatable - tasted like strong instant coffee. But it didn't taste like something I wanted to drink regularly. Then I decided to add it to my daily iced lattes. Now every evening I brew slightly less espresso than before, add some flavored stevia and a level teaspoon of this mushroom coffee, stir it up and refrigerate it. In the morning, I add cold milk (I use soy) and take it to work. It's wonderful. I honestly can't taste this mushroom coffee in my iced lattes at all but I know I'm getting the benefits of it.

Organic and instant is a fun way to make coffee for me. My husband makes brewed coffee for us , but I never liked it. So I was happy to discover this. I'v only tried a few brands, so I'm not a connoisseur of instant mushroom coffee. All I can say about this one is that it's tasty.

I have become very interested in using mushrooms for my health, and I love coffee, so this interested me. It’s just like instant coffee, and has the same amount of caffeine as regular coffee. I don’t know what the actual actual mushroom percentage is, but I like having it here if I want a fast cuppa joe. It’s very good tasting and dissolves immediately in hot water. A bit pricey for this tiny jar. It says 35 cups but I’m thinking more like 20. I’d like to know: what is ratio of mushrooms to coffee, and how much caffeine?
