I recently purchased the Shure SM7dB microphone, and I couldn't be happier with both the product and the timeliness of the delivery. While it is a bit pricey for a beginner, the investment is well worth it for the long-term use as you progress in your capabilities. The sound quality is outstanding, and it's built to last, making it a great choice for anyone serious about their audio work. Highly recommend!

This microphone works really well with my pro audio interface. I have this paired with a pro audio interface for both recording work and for voice chat. The mic plugged right in, and with the built-in preamp turned on, I get plenty of gain and really good quality sound. Also, the amp is switchable, so I can turn it off to use with pre-amps or interfaces that don't have phantom power. Since my "cheap" interface doesn't have phantom but has tons of gain, I have a lot of flexibility now. If you're considering an SM7, but are put off by the need for a separate pre-amp or expensive interface with a high-gain mic pre... this is a great choice. I 100% recommend this for studio work.
