I’ve always had an appreciation of poetry, but I didn’t read it outside of the school curriculum. Morrison’s The Lords and The New Creatures, is the first book of poetry that I read and recited.I knew Jim Morrison was the lead singer for the Doors, but I didn’t know he had poetry published. In 1987 I was listening to everything from Pop to Reggae and Rap to Classic Rock. However, I was always intrigued with the Doors. Aptly, put, it was the lyrics and Morrison's enigmatic persona, completely different. The Lords Notes on Visions is a free verse collection of poems based on the art and method of cinema. From the synopsis on the back of the book, Morrison describes his self-published volume as “a thesis on film aesthetics.”The following are some of Morrison’s poems:Urge to come to terms with the “Outside,” by absorbing, interiorizing it. I won’t come out, you must come in to me. Into my womb-garden where I peer out. Where I can construct a universe within the skull, to rival the real.Film confers a kind of spurious eternityThe eye looks vulgar Inside its ugly shell. Come out in the open In all of your Brilliance. In the womb we are all blind cave fish. When play dies it becomes the Game. When sex dies it becomes Climax. The Lords Notes on Visions is a montage of people at play; sex at play. Imagery and the reel of imagination are versed in meticulous words.Morrison is the director with his free verse; we watch his words in the labyrinth arrangement of seats in a theater. Jim Morrison is the alchemist for spectacle and spectator. The Lords and The New Creatures – Jim Morrison, Published 1971Book Review: OrangePostman .com

Love to Read
This was purchased to replace one that had gone missing. It completes my collection. Even if you don't like The Doors music, you should check out Jim Morrison's poetry.

Read this back in high school
Haven't read this in years, lost the book I had or maybe gave it away to some girl... definitely missed reading these and as a life long fan of Jim Morrison I knew I had to get it all over again now that I'm older

Good
I've always been a fan of Jim's poetry as much as I've been a fan of the band's music, but that doesn't mean I like it all. Some of the pieces feel like pretentious filler while others can be beautifully profound. As with any form of art, it is up to personal discretion, but I'm writing this review to encourage fans of Morrison to buy it if they're on the fence. You'll be the one to appreciate it.

A brilliant mind
I love anything Jim Morrison and his poems are so thought provoking. I highly recommend to anyone who loves Jim or to anyone wanting to learn about Jim. I feel it gives you a little glimpse into that beautiful mind of his.

15/10 you want to buy this book
Amazing, as always. Jim Morrison created very thought provoking poetry. I strongly recommend getting this poetry book (or any of his other ones too) going and setting up a hammock w one or more people you really like being around and reading a passage. Get everyone to give their interpretation of the passage, really wonderful way to see how someone else's brain associates certain words with personal memories

Poetry God
My daughter got very excited to get this book because she's a huge Jim Morrison fan. That will be my fault in getting her into my music world and she has become addicted. When she got it, I grabbed it, read it and it was incredible poems he had written. Wonderful poetry to put on your shelf. I recommend this book to poetry fans and Morrison fans. Today, she woke up and started reading :)
