The device must be powered on to work. However, the gigantic power button is slightly raised and quite easily pressedwhile in your pocket or purse. If you happen to lose your keys right after your tube of lip balm powered it off, you're out of luck. Also the app throws an annoying notification tantrum if you turn off your phones Bluetooth. Also, the ring is so thick, when you roll a conventional, helical ring onto it, layers of plastic will be scraped off.Since you never know when you will lose your keys(dog/cat/child/pruning shears, etc), why would you ever turn off this device if the battery lasts up to 6 months; to prevent it from interfering with your pacemaker? The power button should be a tiny, recessed affair requiring a toothpick to engage.I like the idea of this, but I'll have to re-order a more intelligently-designed model. I suggest you do the same.

There are two mayor problems with the application. If you turn off the application the tracker gets disconnected and 1) you won't be able to find the tracker again until you find it yourself and press its button again to reconnect and 2) you won't be able to find your cell phone. Right there you are beating its purpose. The application must be on at all times. This must be improved.

could not get it to link to app .. changed batteries and still doesn't work

Trackers seemed to become ineffective after a month or so. Disappointing. Even new, the "finder" app was less than accurate.

Honestly this thing was horrible, it fall apart after first used. I still have one without being used at home.

Completely useless as it shuts off after 15 minutes. Threw both of them out.
