If you asked yourself what scissors would be tough enough to cut through aluminum or nylon fabric, you, my friend, have found them. These suckers are really awesome! After testing them on some various soft materials, these perform better than just about every pair of scissors I have ever owned. So why three stars you ask? Why not provide the essential 5-Star review?1. Weight and balanceThese things aren’t balanced well. They are pretty heavy (expected from the materials they cut) and the balance isn’t forward enough.2. Handle materialThe plastic doesn’t fully mold around the metal of the scissor arms and as a result the metal pokes out through the bottom of the scissors. It isn’t a big deal, but it appears to be a quality control problem. Also the plastic is slippery and not easy to grip.3. Scissor closureThe closure mechanism doesn’t keep this thing closed all the way. The tip is partially closed rather than the scissors being completely closed. (Probably why the packaging was torn up and the scissors were open in the bubble envelope, and I almost cut myself on the scissors trying to get them from the packaging.)Things I like:1. They cut like a boss. I mean really cut.2. Satisfying cutting sounds when cutting. It sounds like you could cut through anything. A satisfying swoosh is made when you cut with these things.3. Powerful spring!4. Big handle!In Summary:Since these scissors cut amazingly well. I recommend them, but the quality control makes these things seem overpriced. The plastic isn’t molded well around arms and the scissors don’t close all the way when locked (safety concerns).

We bought two pairs of Wiss shears out of desperation and frustration with cheap kitchen and office scissors. We bought these shears to work in the kitchen, and they do as well cutting vegetables as opening thick plastic packaging. I'm pretty sure they would work on battlefield amputations. We use them for both wet and dry needs, and simply wipe them off after. We've experienced no corrosion or seizing of the mechanism at all. We loved them so much we bought the 10" scissors for the office, and no long wonder "is this too many sheets of paper?" At least for our needs, paying a premium for well-built shears added a definite quality of life improvement.

Like: Blade material and construction is very strong and will not rust. It can easily cut nylon webbing and magazines. Narrow blade design allows it to be inserted in small, narrow places. As an admittedly odd, but perfect, example, I manicure my family's veterans headstones by keeping the adjacent grass roots from encroaching and covering them. The cemeteries prohibit trenching. These shears are perfect for pushing into and cutting, the thick grass roots abutting the stones.Dislke: It "locks" closed by pushing a knurled metal tab into a slot in the red plastic handle sheath. After much usage, this slot deforms, making it harder to insert the metal tab. Note: I fixed this by enlarging the slot with a small file.

From papers to heavy card boards, thin plastic bags to heavy 1/4" rubber mats or carpets and electrical wires from thin telephone wires till 12gauge solid copper wiring , tree branches till 1" thick....only "1 REASON" why i did not give excellent 5 star was when it opens up w/ built in spring, even for me who has a large hands ( my glove size is XXL) , I needed extra effort to be able to grab it without some kind of struggle !!

Extremely sharp and are just as sharp after cutting through 800 linear feet of carpet tile squares with heavy rubber backing.The return spring and handle design allows for the use of gloves while cutting. The blades have not bent and are very tight on the tip. I can cut with the tip of the sheers just fine.They used to be sold locally but Wiss has changed their design and now has 2 loops for the handle instead of just one. I prefer this design. The return spring on these is a must!

The spring in the pivot, which is necessary for use, falls out of place making the scissors just two blades held loosely together, and therefore useless.

The one I bought 4 years ago had very soft metal that went blunt in the first few minutes of use. Check out C.K scissors instead that I've been abusing for several years with no issues, even with cardboard and plastics.

Gekauft im August 2019, wenig gebraucht. Leider funktioniert die Rückholfeder nicht mehr, somit ist das Schneiden eine Zumutung. Sonst schneidet sie i.O., aber ab jetzt unbrauchbar, schade.Update:Innert einigen Tagen Ersatz bekommen, top Service, bravo Amazon !
