Replaced my two Weber Grills with one Bullseye Grill
I am a big BBQ guy. I have a Rec Tec RT680 pellet smoker that I have had for 4 years, a Weber Genesis 310 gas grill, a Green Mountian Grill Davy Crockett smoker and a Weber 22 inch Kettle. Having all these BBQs I found myself using gas and charcoal for my two Weber grills. I always hated having to get the coals hot enough and then having to clean the Weber kettle. I also got tired of having to buy gas for my gas grill. My two smokers burned wood pellets and it was easy to fill and very easy to clean up. Also loved cooking with real wood. The Bullseye Grill is the perfect replacement for my two Weber grills and is the only grill I could find that got hot enough to sear a steak or cook 20 hamburgers all at the same time. When I seasoned it (ran it as hot as it could get for one hour) it topped out at 646F. That is 125F hotter than my two smokers and it could obtain reaching 500F in about 9 minutes. That is just as fast as my kitchen oven can preheat to 500F.Another cool feature is when the grill is on you can see the flames and the radiant heat they generate. So all my grills and smokers now run on wood pellets. I can now sear the perfect steak, crisp chicken skin or anything that requires high and radiant heat.Highly recommend this BBQ especially if you already have a wood pellet smoker.

The Search Is Over
I bought just the grill from REC TEC for $399, bought the cover from them for $49 on sale and bought 80# of pellets from Amazon for $75, didn't need the grill mat, so saved about $75.This is my first smoker grill. I did research on smoker grills and eventually realized the REC TEC held temps well and could get very hot, both of which were important, because I like to cook steaks. The grill requires an initial 1 hr burn off to clear any sort of residue. My grill reached temps of about 650 and easily held it. About 1/2 way through, I took the GrillGrates from my gas grill and put them in to burn off, so I ran it for 90 minutes, that went through about 6-7# of wood pellets. The cooking process for seared steak is to get the grill to 200 degrees and smoke thick steaks for 1 hr, then pull them, let them rest while heating the grill (and the GrillGrates required for searing) to the top temp, then sear each side for a minute or two. The steaks came out somewhere between MED R and MED, and were extremely juicy. Instead of melting off to drip into the grill causing flare ups like you get with a higher temp gas grill, the low temp REC TEC keeps marbling which is what gives steaks their flavor. My wife, who is incredibly picky about steak, said that it was the best steak she has ever had and I have to agree. The smoke flavor is just right, Goldilocks would approve, it perfectly complements a great steak. After years of trying in vain to get the perfect steak from gas and charcoal grills, using wood chips and so many other gadgets, I finally found the solution, the REC TEC Bullseye, the domain of the perfect steak. REC TEC makes larger grills and I'm sure that they are just as awesome, but this was the right size for me.

Love it
Amazing grill/smoker (I would not use it for smoking as this grill is direct heat but you can certainty smoke meat in it). Meat is always amazing... I have 2 other smokers RecTec T680 and Weber Bullet and my wife would not touch those smokers with a 6 foot pole but she absolutely loves bullseye. Very easy to use and cooks meat fast and juicy.Side note: It takes 2 people to assemble. Make sure to go on RecTec website and watch their assembly video so you don’t make assembling mistakes (like things not lining up).

Great for grilling
Does steaks nice and other meats with the auger set to max or near max. I did a pork shoulder and it came out ok. The auger runs at a constant rate, based on where you set it. I had to go out several times and lower the feed auger rate to keep the temp under control. The does not come with and automatic temp control nor does it have a meat probe. I think the unit is over priced for what it is. Other manufacturers have meat probes and temp control based on feedback sensors, in small units like this. Investigate before you purchase this on. One of the bars on the grill has come loose already. Go to you tube to see how to assemble the rack from the back wheels to the front legs.

Low budget smoker - high buget customer service
EDIT: Rec Tec made me aware the person handling my request was no longer with them so it was lost in translation. They've elected to swap out my unit with a new one due to the defects at no extra cost. I was satisfied completely with how they handled the matter with prestige. Will continue to use them solely for their customer service. My controller went out after 6 months of ownership leaving the grill useless. It quite literally wouldn’t even start. The enamel by the handle is cracked and rusting. The deflector plate is completely red with rust after multiple attempts to keep it clean/moisture free. Even attempted to season it like a cast iron pan with no luck. Now rust just freely blows around contaminating anything inside of the grill, making it unusable. I’ve tried reaching out to Rec Tec via email multiple times to let them know I’ve got a defective unit with no response. The unit was fairly easy to assemble but has not lasted more than 40hrs cooktime without trial. I tried to have them rectify before I left a review but as I said they haven’t responded.

No temp control which we need before hand what we were getting but not a big deal to us.
We love our grill. Took my husband 30 minutes to put together this grill! A screw was missing and one was not threaded but it worked out. Little bit of work to clean.

Do not waste your money!!!
I got one of these as a gift from my Father in Law. We knew they were a local company and we wanted to give them a try over traeger. My father in law tried to put it together but couldn't as its really difficult. He brought it to my house unassembled and man it is a bear. Things did not line up and the whole thing was very frustrating trying to assemble in 100 degree weather.I sold it online at 1/3 the price he paid for it and bought a large comodo Joe grill.I wa excitted to try the pellits but i never worked out for me.I would not purchase one of these grills but i cant say one way or another about hot they cook as i never made it that far.
