Almost perfect
Fantastic to turn all kinds of surfaces into water color paper. From cut wood plates to cheap foam board, a few layers of this with a little bit of sanding with fine steel wool in between layers after drying (and lots of water on the backside, at the same time for every layer you paint on to prevent warping), this stuff will let you paint over this with watercolors. As this is a pretty new invention, it isn’t all perfect yet. Don’t expect Arches quality. It creates almost good watercolor paper, but not very good watercolor paper. It’s a bit spongey and can come off and mix with your colors if rubbed too hard or if you paint with puddles of water, but with this in mind, there’s almost no limit on what can be turned into a pretty OK watercolor paper.

Golden Ground works!
Golden Ground works well to stop bleed thru on thin Bible paper. Many mediums bleed through such thin paper so I discovered Golden Ground after researching Gesso first. The artist whose tutorials I watch on YouTube prefers ground over gesso. It’s an extra step, but I dislike bleed thru so it’s part of the process for me.

I paint watercolor portraits on wood and had been using gesso as the base. This really is absorbent as it says. I've found I like to do a few coats and then a fine sanding. Sometimes I don't want that much absorbency to get different effects so I mix it with gesso in varying degrees and that has been working well for me. It serves its purpose well and gives me a lot more freedom on what to paint on with my watercolors. It isn't going to be exactly the same as painting on paper and you might want to do some experimenting a little to find your comfort zone if it is the first time using it.

Amazon pulls through again :)
Was so thankful for Prime shipping on this when I went to all four local art stores and none carried this or similar product. Used it to coat budget acrylic canvases so my preschool art class could create salty liquid watercolor paintings. Mixing as directed on package, ten 12" square canvases with three coats each, used almost half the 16 oz container.
