Usborne Phonics Young Readers 15 Picture Books Box Set Collection Pack

The book bundle was not at all what I expected. The only good books in my opinion (and my kids) were llamas in pajamas and raccoon on the moon (which we had already). The others do not rhyme well and the illustrations are lacking. I would not recommend this set at all.

With titles like Fat Cat on a Mat, wouldn't you think that it'd be a book full of short a words? Or Hen's Pen's would be a book filled with short e words? Very difficult for beginner readers...the Fat Cat on a Mat is primarily a book for kids who have FINISHED an extensive phonics reading program and already learned considerable number of sight words (irregular words that can't be sounded out). While the illustrations are lovely, I was VERY disappointed that this was not a set of phonic readers that one could use to teach reading, nor was it something I could use to supplement a good phonics program that is working their way through all the phonic rules.

My son LOVES these books! The first day I got them he started reading them and read for hours, he is still learning to read so it takes him a bit. They are silly, cute and pretty easy for kids to read, excellent price too!

These were perfect for my struggling reader. They are great to build confidence!! I would highly recommend.

If you're looking for similar stories to Raccoon On The Moon or Llamas In Pajamas I don't recommend this set. The rest of the collection is different author and stories don't flow. Possibly great books when kids are learning to read, but we're not there yet.
