Small but Mighty
I recently purchased this board to explore a new hobby and experiment with clustering, and so far, I’m really impressed. It arrived quickly, and right out of the box, it’s significantly more powerful than my Raspberry Pi. Performance is smooth, and it’s even more compact than I expected, making it a great fit for my setup. One thing to note is that it does run a little warm, which is to be expected given its performance. If you plan to use it as a NAS that you frequently access, I highly recommend ordering a fan or two to help with cooling. Mine arrived fully assembled, with the command module already attached to the board and a heatsink pre-installed on top of the CPU. The only real challenge I faced was the OS installation, though I suspect that was more of a personal learning curve. The available guides can be a bit convoluted at times, and while the wiki offers some helpful insights, troubleshooting can be difficult due to the lack of community support—there just aren’t many forums discussing this board yet. If you’re new to this, I highly recommend installing the OS via an SD card, as it’s the easiest method. If you choose the USB-C to eMMc route you’ll be dealing with a lot of “extra”. Build quality is solid, and all the ports—HDMI, USB-A, and USB-C—fit snugly. While this ensures a secure connection, it can feel a bit tight at times, making me slightly wary of applying too much force. That said, I see this more as a personal concern rather than a flaw in the design. Overall, this board has exceeded my expectations. Despite the learning curve, it’s a powerful and compact option, and I highly recommend it for those looking to experiment with clusters or build a high-performance NAS.

Makes a great home server.
While I did have a little trouble setting it up, I did get it working. Everything works very well. I am using it with nextcloud as a local family backup. It runs 24x7 without any kind of issue. (I was going to buy this directly from the source, but the tariffs would have been as much as the board.)

GOOD DIY NAS
Got it with Openmediavault pre-installed. It has saved a lot of time for me. Though need to test the data transfer speed across 1 gig network with Gen3 nvme installed.

Amazing Board
Just bought my 5th board! This product is so amazing as you can put so many different OS's on it. I've tried many and stuck with Ubuntu Noble. Runs 4 NVME's like butter. No complaints here. Also it comes with a powerful power supply unlike other sellers. This is needed to run the board and all 4 NVME's. 2.5g LAN makes this a triple threat! Seller is amazing. I did receive a carrier board with a bad NVME slot and seller sent a new one right away along with free gifts. An SD card and USB adapter for it. Possibilities are endless with this. I'm using it for crypto mining but you can honestly do almost anything on it that will run on linux.

Would be great, but the power supply is only 2A output.
Would be great, but the power supply is only 2A output. The board need atleast 4 amps to utilize 4 M.2 I was setting this up and every time I synced up a raid 5 with 4 m.2 drives, the board kept fatally crashing. Needing a hard reset, reseating the power supply. I don't have a 4 Amp 12V power supply. I'm pretty pissed that they would send an out of spec power supply with this kit. UPDATE: The supplier reached out and are updating the product line to be more specific on its capability with provided power supply. They might even change the PS to a 4 Amp from now on, which would be best for everyone. I commend their actions and changed my review to a 5 star.

Worst NAS experience ever.
Worst experience of my life. If you look at my reviews I’m not generally super critical however this was the worst purchase I ever made, over the span of six months of owning this board it ate through four SSDs. Have you ever tried to claim even just one warranty on a SSD? It’s a terrible and long experience which requires you to jump through hoops to get them to honor it. I would shut the unit off and the drive would corrupt. Do software updates, corruption. Each drive would last about 1-2 months before they would completely become bricked. I still have this junk unit sitting in my server panel unplugged and forever to just sit there and collect dust and ended up purchasing a UGREEN 4800 Plus which has been absolutely amazing. No corrupted drives, no issues, it just works. I took two of my SSDs and installed them as cache drives and the two others are just spares / back ups. Setting up the drive was a little nutty and if you have no idea how to use Linux don’t let this board be the time to learn it, and before some random nerd is like “your drives corrupted because you don’t know what you’re doing” my desktop and laptop both run Linux, UGREEN uses a custom Linux os and never have any issues. It’s not a Linux issue I personally believe it was a power management issue. Overall it was a long and tiring experience and a complete waste of money.

Impressive Single Board Computer!
I purchase the 16GB CM3588 - at the time it was the only model available. I would eventually like to upgrade to the 32GB model. I am using mine kit as a Network Attached Storage server running Open Media Vault At the time of purchase there were no cases so I 3D printed one. I am really surprised by the small compact design - and processing power - this unit runs all my docker containers and storage server with ease.

Fast multi-purpose 32 Gb RAM 8 CPU desktop/server system, once you find the wiki
I purchased a board and associated case. Be aware that youyeetoo.com has no information on their website. Instead, search for FriendlyElec CM3588. They have an entire wiki devoted to support, including binaries for OpenMediaVault, OpenWRT, Debian 11/12, Ubuntu 22.04/24.04, and instructions for enabling NPU support. I flashed Ubuntu to a MicroSD card, plugged it in, powered it up and a few moments later had a fully functional, quiet, decently fast 32 Gb RAM desktop, with accelerator for small AI models. Hint: Ubuntu password is either pi or ubuntu.

downloaded software for a mini NAS , it's working now for 2 weeks and doesn't need a lot of electricity and very quiet , but can be expensive if you buy the 4T NVME.
