Excellent
DeNiro and Pfeiffer are absolutely brilliant in this. It is without any doubt my favourite of favourites movies. They are both hilarious.

The Fighter!!!
OK, I wasn't sure about this film before purchasing it, Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg in a boxing movie???However, after watching it, I was gladdly proven wrong.A great movie, with an outstanding performance from Bale who really reaches an all time new level of acting, amazing.Anyway, the films great, but is it worth getting it on blu ray?Well, firstly the price is right, 7 pounds!!!The picture and sound are perfect (as you would expect on a 2010 movie), and the extras a really good. And although the image doesn't show it, it comes with a blu ray disc sleeve/slip cover, always a nice touch!AUDIO: DD 5.1 (DTS HD)PICTURE: Full HD 1080p (2.35:1 Aspect Ratio)EXTRAS: Audio commentary with director, deleted scenes, and two documentaries (the warrior's code: Filming the fighter and Keeping the Faith). All in all a great blu ray at a great price, you can't go wrong, 5 Stars. Highly recommended.

A entertaining film
Any film with Robert De Niro is usually very good, but two viewings of this is probably enough

So much more than I expected
This is a fantastic film. The story is gripping and the acting superb. I really engaged with the characters throughout the film. Its not just about boxing. In fact there is very little boxing in it. Its about the bond between two brothers being stretched in all directions against the backdrop of despair and achievement. Dicky's life is heading downhill, as he deludes himself with past glories while losing himself to drugs and crime. Micky tries to distance himself from his family so that he may create some space for him to realise his ambitions. The ensuing friction is really credible and there are some great scenes as fault lines develop between all factions of their large family. This is a great film that will leave you wanting more. Its good old fashioned story telling. Great characters, great plot, and a great soundtrack to boot. Don't be put off by the boxing. Its not rough. Its not schmaltzy. Its brilliant.

Would the real Christian Bale please stand up? BD
Have looked forward to watching this since I missed it at the cinema and I'm not disappointed. Mark Wahlberg does a great job portraying Mickey Ward but those who knew Christian Bale pre-Batman will be happy that he's back to doing what he does best and that's putting up some phenominal acting. It's great that he gets to shine again after so many said that he was blown off the stage by Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight. Give him a character to work with and the magic flows...The film itself is very decent. It isn't my favourite boxing movie since Raging Bull as some critcics have called it, that honour easily goes to Cinderella Man [Blu-ray]. It's a 4 star movie but Bale makes it up to a 5.The Blu-Ray quality isn't anything to write home about but given the content, there isn't much to work with for HD. Poor support for foreign languages also, English only for language and subs.Region locked

The Family
A quirky film a great cast, a bit different from the norm. An enjoyable film.

easy way to pass a couple of hours.
An entertaining little film that has former Mafioso, Robert De Niro as Fred Blake - not a very enigmatic name for a Mafia boss. entering the Witness Protection Programme and settling in France, having moved numerous times previously when his cover was blown. He and his family, wife Maggie (Michelle Pfeiffer) and still-at-school, son and daughter are minded by an agent, Stansfield, played by Tommy Lee Jones and two others. All seems to be going swimmingly until the son writes an article for the school magazine which starts the ball rolling when Freds previous friends in the States get wind of it and decide to follow it up to exact their revenge on Fred for breaking the code of 'Omerta'. John d'Leo and easy on the eye Diana Agron play the kids.

The, "DVD only works in computer."
I dislike that the Family DVD, only works in my computer, and not in DVD player, or blue ray disc player. So I have to view this on a small screen, and not a large TV screen. When I purchased this, it didn't specify that it would only play on computer. That's why I gave one star, for this item.
