This could be a good solenoid latch except that the pull force is fairly weak. So if anything is rubbing or pressing even lightly against the latch tongue then it will not retract. That can be a big problem if the solenoid is in the latched position inside a drawer or cabinet. Then there would be no way to open it or get it out.
