Easy to install, battery powered
My attached garage did not have a smoke detector in it so I got this one specifically as it's battery powered. We will see how long the installed batteries last, from what I've seen in searching (not specifically for this model), says about a year. Nice and compact though that wasn't a needed feature for me.Tested it with a fireplace match, watched the smoke go in and nothing. Just about the time I thought I had a bum unit it went off. Note, you need to hit the red flashing light on the front to silence it, it doesn't appear to go off on its own once the smoke source is removed. You can easily hear it in the house though it might not wake me up.Package comes complete with mounting screws and dry wall anchors.

Easy and quick to install
Easy and quick to install. Test noise level is pretty loud but great when they are there to detect smoke. Glad we got 2 in this pack to we could add more safety to our new home! Worth it.

3 important features for me
Two things I like about this one. It has a small footprint, which is perfect for my RV, it has a separate base, so removing the unit is just a twist-off matter, no messing around with realigning the unit on screw holes, and finally, it used regular batteries (not 9V batteries)

Very nice unit for my RV
I used this for an interior ceiling mount on my RV. When rotated in place to lock onto the bas, the main body moved bit.I could imagine it rattling as the RV traveled on the road. The fix was to add 2-3 very small self stick felt pads to the base of the mount. When I locked the alarm body on, there was no or very little movement from the alarm itself.Nice size, I liked the description that it could distinguish cooking smoke. This smoke alarm is mounted on the ceiling at the edge of the upper nose bunk and closest to the kitchen. Nice size. Included batteries were appreciated.

Kidde will not replace units that are defective.
I do NOT recommend buying this KIDDE Smoke Detector. I purchased one on Amazon and it was defective. I called Kidde customer service and they would not replace it or refund me for the defective unit. After a trouble shooting session and hard reset, they said to call back if it still kept beeping constantly. It did so I called back, sent a copy of the invoice and because it was purchased from Amazon and the seller was listed as OTHER they would not replace it. They also said this unit is NOT RATED for use in an RV. Odd that when you do a search on Amazon for an RV smoke detector this one shows up a lot. I explained to the representatives that they are in the business of selling products that are suppose to help SAVE LIVES and when they MAKE DEFECTIVE UNITS and DON'T REPLACE them that is VERY BAD.
