Gnomeo And Juliet [DVD]

I have bought this film twice as presents for grandchildren & nephew & recently watched this with three of my grandchildren aged 3, 5 & 7. They sat glued to it from beginning to end, not only amusing for children but has some hidden adult humour, which kept me awake long after their bedtime! The fact that it also had an introduction to Shakespeare for the young viewer was a very clever twist, with - thank goodness, a happier outcome than Shakespeare's original version, otherwise the three year old would have been very sad! The voices are perfectly suited to the gnomes & great fun for us oldies to work out who's who! It is worth watching just to see the Gnome wearing a mankini, whom all my grandchildren now copy! Brilliant!

Myself and two i watched this with loved this alternative take on a classic story. Highly amusing. Looking at the cover,i was a little worried this may be too childish for even us big kids,i needn't've worried. It does take the main theme of the story and does it well. The blue gnomes and the red gnomes are at war,but of course,one of the reds falls for one of the blues and the story gets going. There are enough laughs leading up to the crux of the story,then they keep coming thick and fast. Amusing characters,great visual gags,brilliant ideas everywhere and it looks colourful and stunning too. Ideal for little ones and big kids alike. If you need cheering up,give this a go,i have nothing negative to say about it.

Can't believe there are any negative reviews for this film, it has taken over the role of most watched film in our house, that title previously belonged to Despicable Me, My 5 year old twin girls actually laugh out loud through various parts of this film, Ashley Jenson as the Frog Is Absolutely Brilliant! The makers of this should be more than proud of themselves, its funny, sweet, energetic, and completely addicive to watch. The girls loved the deviousness of the two fighting families, the stupidness of the reindeer, the lawnmower racing and the all important happy ending, only one downside is I'm now being bugged to buy some Gnomes for our garden! (NOT EVER Happening! Never!)

This is a nice, funny little film that be enjoyed by the whole family. I would even go as far to say as this is better written and easier to understand than william shakepearce's version. The concept of living gnomes is a lot more believable than the original play version.

As someone who has sat through many, many children's films , this was a fantastic breath of fresh air. I LOVED the catchy soundtrack courtesy of Elton John (Saturday Night's Alright... accompanying gnomes racing on lawnmowers to name but one). There are some great one-liners from Michael Caine ( I am NOT illiterate - my parents were married!), and a good story (obviously, as it is modelled on Romeo and Juliet) with fueding Blue and Red Gnomes. I will never pass a garden with gnomes again without wondering what happens when the owners go out...

I have to say this is one of the best kids films I have seen and I have seen a lot! The story is very loosely based on the shakespeare play 'Romeo and Juliet' and adults may get some of the little nods to it but kids will just enjoy it for what it is. There are two gardens competing with each other in a life long feud between both the home owners and their garden ornaments, they are the reds and the blues, sworn enemies, they are never to mix. The battle continues on and when a red(Juliet)and a blue(Gnomeo) fall in love, things are set to get even worse. Can true love end this bitter war ? From beginning to end Gnomeo and Juliet is a thrilling adventure with plenty of 'laugh out loud moments', I can't wait for the Dvd.

I went to watch this with family who were quite young & was during a period where my teachers were questioning my class on how does Juliet’s language show the strength of her character or how does Shakespeare show that Romeo & Juliet will have a tragic fate during class to then watching this with the kids. the film was certainly more geared toward children but given that I was also studying the story in class, it also gave me a fresher pespective on what they were adapting than some of the other adults. I liked that some of music that was played, the animaltion was pretty cool & the pacing felt consistent

The colourful gnomes of this high quality film will keep a 3 year old amused while stimulating the intellectual and emotional capacities of the adult audience. After Gnomeo and Juliet, one goes to Romeo and Juliet (eg Zeffirelli 1968) for comparison. I watched Gnomeo four times all the way through, which bespeaketh my enthusiasm. With its quality actors, animation, story and sound track, this film is well to be recommended (unlike Sherlock Gnomes, it has to be said).

Attention, contrairement à d'autres blu-rays 3D australiens (comme Little Chicken ou G-Force), il n'y a pas de VF, ni de sous-titres français sur la version 3D. La VF (+ sous-titres français) ne sont présents que sur le blu-ray 2D.

Falla en que solo se puede ver en inglés no más idiomas. Y los subtítulos igual. Por lo demás buena calidad de imagen.

bluray ist schon vorbestellt.. freue mich schon seit ich ihn im kino gesehen habe drauf ihn daheim zu haben! der film ist nicht nur wirklich einfach "nett" und freundlich gemacht, sehr originell und mit liebe zum detail, sondern auch wirklich sehr sehr witzig! nicht nur manche figuren an sich sondern auch so manche szene haben potential auf die lach-tränen-drüse zu drücken.. bei mir hats funktioniert!! wir haben alle noch lange nach dem kinobesuch von dem film geschwärmt ... hoffe die bluray wird qualitativ gut... da aber animierte filme generell das wohl beste ergebnis auf bluray liefern, überhaupt wenn es sogar eine 3d version gibt, mach ich mir da fast keine gedanken... freu mich schon!!!!!!!!!!!!
