I've been obsessed lately with natural sunlight and how to obtain this marvel of nature during the winter months when the days are short. Most indoor lighting just can't match the rejuvenation one gains from sunlight although many products have claimed success. This skylight is the closest I've seen to achieving that goal for the price. This is easily the best upgrade to my home I've made in the last two years and I plan to add more. I bought the 1X2ft version which isn't as bright as sunlight coming through a real skylight at high noon but it's still plenty bright and quite convincing as a skylight. Friends that have seen it didn't know it wasn't real until I told them. Now to be honest, if you look directly at the LED strip (from a steep angle) through the nanoparticle-doped window you can tell it's not the sun but at most viewing angles it just looks like a blue sky with sunlight piercing through. The app control is also super cool as you can adjust the color temperature and brightness of the light to match different times of day. The app also allows you to setup a day/night cycle but I've never used this since I don't leave it on all day. Very impressed for the money! Last thing to mention, this was very easy to install. The clips that came with it were useless for me so I just anchored it to the floor joist with a few screws through the cover and then dabbed a touch of white paint to mask the screws. Looks perfect!

Very happy with the result! The sunlight effect is very realistic and I've already fooled a few friends thinking it was an actual skylight. We use it in our basement gym with no windows and when the light is on, it makes the room feel more energized and less depressing. I like the controllability with the app which was easy to use. The connection to the included bluetooth gateway was always stable even in my basement. I have it set on an sunrise to sunset schedule, super fun! The blue to warm light spectrum is smooth and the brightness can be very dim to super bright. It was very easy to wire, we chose to use the wiring for one of our pot lights which we replaced. We did not use the included clips and chose to instead screw through the bottom lip into our joists. This way it was easier to remove later if we need to. One tip I have is to definitely place the light close to a wall and point it towards the wall. The LED bulbs in the fixture are super bright and you want to not be able to see them!

Great light for my basement office BUT the app is extremely difficult to connect.

At $329 this is certainly a very very good value. Other artificial skylights can cost thousands of dollars for something only incrementally better than this. The sunlight effect is quite realistic, and the adjustable brightness and color temperature mean that it can be tuned to most environments. The LED light quality is pretty good but not great compared to say a Soraa LED. My biggest complaints: 1) The mounting clips are a bit weak, and don't hold the unit tight enough against the drywall. 2) The mobile app has a really nice feature to smoothly alter the brightness and color temperature over the course of the day, but the transitions can be specified ONLY in terms of hours and minutes. They really need to add "sunrise" and "sunset" as supported trigger times. I am hoping that, since it's Zigbee, I can use Homeassistant instead of the native app, but we'll see.

We ordered two (for our bathrooms) and the effect is very impressive. We've had multiple people confused by how much it looks like sunlight. It's a great way to add gentle daylight to spaces (like our interior bathrooms) that get no sunlight. I almost want to install more in our interior hallway. I'm not sure what other reviews are referring to in terms of the app being in Chinese...the Tuya Smart Home app was definitely in English for us (the name of the lamp is in Chinese by default; but literally just change it to whatever you want to call it, since it's your app). And the flickering that someone else notes is just the light indicating it's in pairing mode, waiting for you to set it up on your app (this is very similar to every other Bluetooth light we've set up in our house). Since we have two, we've just set up one single Zigbee hub (included) for both. Do note that the lamp itself is 1x2ft, so smaller than it appears in the beauty shots. We've set it up to cycle through colors throughout the day/evening. It makes for a really great "night light."
