AQUAEL Pat MINI INTERNAL FILTER

The Pat Mini is a deceptively strong little filter; in fact, it’s almost overengineered for its size. While it’s sold as a standalone internal filter, its real value lies in its versatility. It is incredibly popular in the aquarium community as an affordable powerhead. I’ve seen it used frequently to power Matten filters or swapped onto double sponge filters by removing the stock sponge. The performance is fantastic for such a compact unit, though I have to agree with the common sentiment that the included sponge is subpar. It’s definitely a better option to replace the stock sponge with a higher-quality one or use the motor to power a different filtration setup entirely. If you need a reliable, strong flow in a small footprint, this is a brilliant and cost-effective choice.

I'm a little bit addicted to these filters, and have 4 in use currently! I like to use these as a powerhead attached to a sponge filter, simple to do and there are guides on doing so available online. Result being I have all the benefits of a sponge filter for my shrimp tanks, but turbo charged with adjustable flow rate. These are small, quiet filters that pack a decent punch at a very good price point.

This is a really good filter, especially for cycling. I use it as a second filter in my tank. The only problem I have is that it can be difficult to get a good stream of bubbles.

I have installed this mini filter in my small 15L tank with Platy fry. the filter is quite powerful, but the power can be turned down to create a smaller current more suited to fry. It is quietly keeping the tank clean, and is easy to clean the filter sponge. The filter sponge it comes with is quite coarse, and therefore would not be suitable for baby shrimp, however, finer replacement sponges are easily obtainable through Amazon.

I’d purchased two sponge filters with power heads attached from Amazon which were rubbish and a waste of money so I bought this filter and attached the power head to a bog standard double sponge filter and it works very well. The bubbles are nice if you want to use them, if not you can easily turn them off with the little switch supplied. Full instructions on how to do this are on YouTube.

Disappointing redesign. I bought one of these in 2024 and it was great - quiet and effective. I was setting up a new tank in 2025 so bought another one, but there has been a change of design which makes it pretty much unusable for me. There used to be a slider for adjusting the water flow for smaller tanks, lots of people complained that it was hard to adjust precisely, but it was fine for me. This has been changed to a corkscrew like element, problem is it doesn't actually seem to have much impact on the flow. Even with a long spray bar it cannot help but blast water around the tank, which is no good for many inhabitants. It may be that I am doing something wrong, or that my unit is faulty, but I have reached out to the company via their web contact form and they have not got back to me. Sadly I didn't get around to installing it until after the Amazon return period lapsed, so I am stuck with it.

Small filter with lots of power and very quiet and good with saving space too 👍

This a great filter for the price, I run my tank using a canister filter for the main filtration as this would not provide enough filtration for my tank or most. I positioned it near the surface to create agitation which it does really well as it’s quite powerful. You do have to clean the sponge fairly often to maintain the high flow but that’s not much of an issue. Would recommend to anyone who needs to increase oxygenation in the water

Filtre livré rapidement et bien emballé. Dommage qu'il soit livré avec une prise anglaise, ce qui n'est pas précisé dans le descriptif du produit. Cela oblige d'acheter en plus un adaptateur.
