The metal pick is strong and when extended is pretty sturdy.

Better than I expected!
These are just a really useful tool to have around. Smooth opening and closing action...not Swiss watch or German engineering type smooth, but pretty good, especially at this price point and after a couple drops of oil. The tips are strong enough for most any practical use, especially if you grip it right at the bolt handle. The outer tube is light and strong enough, but feels like it would be the weakest point if subjected to an amount of force that would be unreasonable for most purposes. Would love to have a super smooth, highly machined, all titanium model with grippy checkering, but would probably still have a couple of these around that are cheap and easily replaceable.

Failed product
Only had this item for one month and the tab that is used to extend to toothpick fell off and was lost.

Can't stay extended, about to break
To be fair, my expectations were not very high for this, but the toggle to hold these in an expanded position does not hold. If you can get it to latch, any pressure at all will cause it to retract again. Quite dissapointed in this.
