Great read!
Lucian & Jordyn reminded me of Luca & Aria (Bound by Honor) and Nicolas & Elena (The Sweetest Oblivion). I loved Lucian and I was really into this story from the beginning but it went a little flat towards the end. Still a great read and I would highly recommend it based on the male lead and the chemistry between the main characters.

Your mileage may vary. Read the book.
I finished this book yesterday and I've still been fence sitting about it. I can't say I loved it but I didn't hate it, and that's all I can say.Lucian has a very complex past. It got confusing and tiresome. His dad is really his uncle or something. His aunt is really his dad's wife? I'm from Appalachia and I had trouble following this. That shouldn't happen since my region is known for incest. (Look up the blue people of Kentucky.)I loved and completely adored his family though. If for no other reason, I would have finished this book. They each have traits that make you fall in love with them. Read it and tell me differently.Jordyn was, by turns, both brave and incredibly stupid. That wore me down quickly. She fails to make a decision, which is in itself a decision and then suffers the consequences, but I felt like she never owned that her own inability to make a decision is what caused it. She just seemed to gloss over it. She was also naive in ways that someone with her backstory shouldn't be. She had grown up rough and should've had a better understanding of the world. The writing! Most of it is fine. Some of it is distracting, aggravating and...I had to put the book down and walk away. She chooses words that while technically correct aren't the common variation and it pulls you out of the story. Or at least that happened to me over and over. Your mileage may vary. I could list them here but honestly, read the book. You might not find a single example, but I found several. Also, her sentences sometimes ramble to the point of being nearly unintelligible. If I have to read something three times to figure out what might be being said, I'm over it.The length of the story was okayish. Some of it needed to be edited for clarity and some just needed to be edited. For instance, when Lucian is completely obtuse in a conversation and it doesn't sink in until later, and sometimes much later. Hello? How old are you again? Ten? No, twenty eight. Really? The villain in the book, and their reasons for being the villain, at least as far as Lucian is concerned was so obvious. I wanted to slap every one of them. It was something Jessica Fletcher would have known before Colombo could've asked one more question. These people need to watch more 80's TV.The names of the characters. If she would've changed the name of his mom to Carmella this would have been the Sopranos. Antony, Paulie and Cecelia? In New York and the Mob? Mmmm almost!!The sex. These two were bunnies on Viagra. Angry? Sex. Lonely? Sex. Hungry? Sex. I swear I don't know why they bothered to wear clothes at all. And they had sex while they were both seriously injured in such a way that their libidinous impulses should have been dead for a few days or heck, even hours. But nope. They didn't let anything stop them from acting like two adult movie stars. In the end, three stars. I want to read Dante's story but I just don't know if I can go through with it.

Good not great
Lucian is the first book I ever read by author Bethany-Kris. I didn’t know what to expect from this mafia romance.Lucian is actually very low key. It’s a sweet meet cute romance with suspense, some family secrets, an introduction to the Filthy Marcellos world and enjoyable if you’re looking for a very light romance.Lucian falls for Jordan fast. Jordan is down on her luck and appreciates all that Lucian is doing for her. What will Jordon do when she finds out Lucian is in the mafia? You’ll have to read to find out.Tropes:Mafia RomanceInterconnected Family SeriesHero saves HeroineWealthy Hero/Poor Heroine

One of the best Mafia Romance ever!!
“Love can make a bad man a monster...”This book is one of the best I’ve read so far in the mafia romance genre, I was expecting something completely different, but this is pure mafia and pure romance; infatuation between the characters, I just loved it. I’ve been reading so much about sweet love and romance in all its glory so I needed to make the very delicate transition from sweet to dark again, and this series just prove me that we can have sweet with dark in one and Bethany-Kris is the perfect author for that to happen.Jordyn is living in fear, she knows that there’s no one that can take care of her, so her safety and her future are in her own hands, but there’s someone how really wants her to fail and is willing to make that happen even if he has to force her and break her.Lucian Marcello, the eldest son of the Don of The Cossa Nostra is the one you fear, his name is attached to a past he can’t forget, but that past and his present is what has built the man he is today. After seeing Jordyn he can’t get any peace of mind, he needs her, but the moment he decided to act on it he came across with an almost broken girl…vengeance is the only way he can give her a new life. This book just became attached to my heart, it is so beautifully written in third person and after reading the first chapter I was hooked. Believe me when I tell you that this book is worth the risk of reading something completely out of your comfort zone.

Instalove with heavy possession
What I likedLa COSA NostraResearch or world building was doneThe characters felt real for the most partWhat I didn'tThe plot was horribleThe love scenes were a size queen thing with unrealistic dialogueThe use of brutality for brutality's sakeWarnings: Drug use, drug overdose, and assault on pageFor someone willing to go there with violence. Consequences and major plot devices were tossed to give us a happy family in the end. Will doesn't need to exist. Have her be Anthony's new assistant that Lucien stumbles onto after escaping consequences of his job. Have her realize she works for the mob. Have her be cool with it. The MC can be part of her backstory.Plotline problems solved. Using two villains makes the story weaker not stronger.

The story was amazing, the editing not so much
I read Antony first, then Lucian. I have the single book and the boxset. I loved this story. Part of me wished there were more details in Lucian’s care of Jordyn but the story was outstanding and deserves 5 stars. The editing, for a book in this price range deserves a 2-3. I was so disappointed in the lack,of proper proofing and editing. I am assuming this book was first written and translated - that is the only reason I can come up with the state of this book. I started capturing the issues about halfway and I still have many which you can find in the note section. I was constantly taken from my read and it was frustrating. Sentence structures that made no sense, missing words, wrong words, wrong tenses. 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵 your fans deserve better!

Lucian

A thoroughly good read
These types of character creations have been done before (orphan male child becomes adopted to rich parents) meets female who grew up in less desirable of circumstances.Although I am not really into the whole mafia stories nor the oversatuation of motorcycle club stories, it’s all the same to me now.Author knows how to write a good story though, without getting into too deep of emotions or too gruesome. Although what let it down was the whole insta-love going on and Jordyn adapted effortlessly to the new wealthy lifestyle. Some of the bit in the end was a bit of a cut and paste of a conflict between Lucian and Jordyn. What I really love about Jordyn’s character is that she is not afraid to speak her mind, has the maturity to use tact and is relatable to readers.Overall a thoroughly good read.

Great Read
This book had me from the beginning. I love Lucian and I love Jordyn, and I loved them even more together. Even though Jordyn came from hell, she never let it break her and she remains strong and true to herself. Lucian is almost perfect and that's what made their story work. I recommend this book highly.
