Have on hand an assortment of hardware which will cover all your needs.
Getting your first 3d printer opens a lot of possibilities for new projects but if you're like me that means you need to get hardware to finish those projects. Rather than make separate trips to the hardware store every time I needed something I bought this set of lock nuts. They come well organized in a convenient segmented storage box. Not only that the cost of the entire set wasn't that much more than buying parts separately. Having spare parts is really a game changer.

Box of metric nuts...
It's a box of assorted nuts...There's not much to say beyond that, except maybe they're not full sized, as in height. Which gives them less holding surface and less sheer strength. But hey, they were cheap and there's a pretty good assortment.
