Sengled Element Classic Smart E27 Base, Dimmable LED Light Soft White 2700K 60W Equivalent, Starter Kit (2 A60 Bulbs + hub), Works with Alexa and Google Assistant

Got these bulbs and the small hub at a discount when Amazon were running a promotion and vert happywith the purchase. Was a little fiddly configuring with Alexa but got there in the end. Also connected to Google home, so I can use either to control the lamps (plus the "Sengled" app too). I set up a few rules on Alexa to have both on full, one on dim, other off, etc. Only gripe is that the dimmest setting is not as dim as I would like - other than that, they're excellent with near-instantaneous response.Oh, and if you switch off the light at the switch, they remember their prior setting when powered back on

So it begins....Picked up a starter pack on a multiple buy discounted deal and who knows where my smart home journey goes next, never mind when it will finish!These bulbs were where it all started, soooooo easy to set up, bright enough & really nice colour, not that eyeball piercing light that begins to eat in to your skull after a while, you know what i mean! looks cool on front of car or the like but not in the light socket in you happy place.Extra bonus, these have an in built dimmer function that works great!I set everything up in the simple to use Sengled app then alexa took over, I enabled the Sengled skill & the rest was seamless! From smart home novice to voice control guru in a matter of days!Only one problem so far.... after lights came, plugs, then echo dots start multiplying followed by infra red controllers!! I’m fully down the rabbit hole and it’s getting deeper!Maybe more accurate wording.... From smart home novice to voice control & automation obsessive in a matter of days!

They work. However, the first thing (following the supplied instructions) was to download the app. But having done this the app says its no longer support and a link is provided to download a new (not just update app). After setting up the account I connect the hub easily and both bulbs are instantly recognized without any prompting on my part (probably pre setup as they are part of the starter pack). So far, five stars.Next, the app informs me that although my Hub’s firmware is up to date, both my bulbs needs updating.Working in and with technology plus a house full of tech I probably upgrade firmware on some device at least once every week. This is usually a simply and quick process normally taking between 5-10 minutes - the only risk with a firmware upgrade is this operation must never be interrupted as it will likely lead to you toasting your device.So imagine my surprise when the instructions state that the firmware upgrade for the Sengel devices could take an hour or more. So i warned everyone in the house, under pain of death, to not come in my bedroom and touch the lights.3 hours later still upgrading. So i reach out on Amazon. A fellow purchasers said theirs took 7-8 hours. It was now 10pm and my wife and I wanted to go to bed but couldn’t turn off the lights.I then checked the online support document to find an “up to 12 hours” for bulbs! Why couldn’t the app state this instead of “over an hour”. I would not have started the process a few ours before bedtime.At this point I took the decision to see if I could decrease the brightness down to 1% using the app- in theory, and in usual practice, when carrying out a firmware upgrade the device is locked out. This wasn’t the case with the Sengleds.Problem is 1% is more like 30% brightness meaning with both (60w equivalent) on it was like trying to go to sleep with a 40w bulb on in the bedroom. So we gave up and slept downstairs on the couch.8:45am this morning, just over 13.5 hours later and they finally finished upgrading.Unfortunately there is no UK support desk for these items (only Canada and US) as I wanted to contact then this morning had the upgrade continued to be in action by 9am. I wanted to know, seeing as the lights weren’t locked out during the upgrade, whether I could have simply turned the lights off from the app, thereby not interrupting the main power supply - but there is nothing about this in any of the knowledge base.Ive got 2 more bulbs to upgrade today! Lol!Ive given only 3 stars due to my initial experience and to draw attention to the; lack of transparency in the app guidance re the upgrade experience and the bulb dimming ability. This is to help other purchases to choose the best time for them to upgrade.I will revise my rating after seeing if any steps are taken to address this by Sengled (in the app) and my ongoing use of the lights.

Bought these as the price was very good and so were the reviews, I have to say the need for hub to be attatched to my router was initially annoying but my alexa hub plus negated the need for that so the little hubs that came with the bulns were not needed. As for the connection, just switch the bulb on / off six or xeven times quickly for your zigby enabled hun to find, name the bulb, add to a group, etc and you are good to go. As I mention in my title, these are brighter than I expected so have them on at 10 to 30%

This is a really great product. I bought this as I wanted to try smart home devices as a speak I bought had Alexa built in. I am using these bulbs in table and floor lights in my living room and they have an exellent warm hue.+really simple set up using the Sengled app for iOS and Android - simply plug the hub into the back of the router+Ability to set timers and schedules via the app+ Ability to set scences - preprogrammed settings for movies, candlelight and dim lighting+ multiple users can be logged into the account so family members can control+works brilliantly with Alexa+bulbs can be grouped by room

With the additional base needing plugged into the router, it is a bit of a pain to set up if everything isn’t in the same room as where you plan to have the bulbs. Can take a little bit of time, but it’s easy enough.

Ok I know that title is bland but I'm stuck in the middle with this one the bulbs and the price are great the software/hardware set up was a nightmare and it can only be controlled by one one phone at a time so if the other half is out no dimmer or remote control.As for getting it to work with Alexa only with a later versions if you like I have a perfectly good original dot forget it I gave up before something got broken.
