Herb For Men Mustache & Beard Dye (Deep Brown, 1 Pack), PPD-Free Ammonia-Free, Vegan with Natural Ingredients, Gentle for Sensitive Skin, No Skin Irritation

Excellent product. After having developed an allergy to another product that contains PPD, I decided to try Herb for Men (deep brown). The application method is a little different (and about 10 minutes longer) than the other product, but certainly not more complicated. My experience has so far been great. I haven't experienced any itching, swelling or oozing of my skin under the beard as I did with the other (unnamed) product. It's important to make sure that your beard is washed, clean (oil free), and dry before the application. I was somewhat concerned that the color would be too dark, but the resulting brown appears to be a medium brown that matches well with my natural hair color. I was able to slightly adjust the shade of color by adjusting the application time for both creams. The color seems to last well and gradually disappears after about two weeks once the old gray grows back. When showering, I use a sulfate-free, gentle shampoo without lathering too much on the beard.

The one positive thing I can say about this product is that it only irritated my skin slightly. I felt like my face was mildly sunburned for about 24 hours. It barely covered the gray at all, so I had to use it twice. On the second application I left it on for twice as long (still in accordance with the given instructions.) It came out with a blue/purple undertone that was quite noticeable in various lights. Contrary to what is stated in the directions, the blue/purple tinge did NOT go away after 24 hours, but remained the entire time. I will not be using the product in the future.

I need to write a review for this. I started having terrible reactions (contact dermatitis) from Just for Men which I used for years. Really started burning my skin. Even got worse days after application. So, I started looking for allergen-free alternatives. I went through several products on Amazon, spending up to $45 on similar products. Some still gave me dermatitis, and most of them were not colorfast or gave me good grey coverage. Or had long set times. I avoided this product because it was so inexpensive. But I finally tried the product out of frustration. You get ALOT of product for your money. Set time is not that long. Coverage great, looks natural. AND is super gentle on my skin! There are only 4 colors available, and I have light medium brown facial hair. I adjusted the time to half the suggested time on the deep brown. Looks great, not too dark, very natural. Try this product: Inexpensive and great.

This didnt work for me. It didn't stain my skin, hurt or cause a rash, which is why it gets 2 stars. But it failed to completely dye my beard, leaving a fair amount on noticeable grey, and since application, the rest of the color has washed out fairly quickly, over the course of a week. I liked it, the first 2 days, but dying my beard is something I'm only up to doing once a month. If it can't last that long, then it isn't worth the money, imo. It does smell a little, during application, and i notice the same smell when i'm having a hot shower, but it isn't a terrible smell, just kind of weird. I was worried about the purple color i read about in some other reviews, and didn't experience that myself. If you have super sensitive skin, and want to dye your beard for an event the next day or so, maybe consider this, otherwise, don't waste your time.

There were a lot of reviews before I ordered this. and I was skeptical. But here is my two cents 1. I saw some complaints that this product took longer to use, as they recommend 20 minutes before rinse. Instead of mixing two products, you put product 1 on and wait 10 minutes, and then put product 2 on and wait 10 minutes. I did not see that as too much of an issue, the first time used the product I put the first application on, had a cup of coffee, then put the second product on, and waited another 10 minutes. 2. when putting on the 2 product I was a little worried as the color got very very dark. My beard is brown and it was black. I almost rinse immediately thinking it would be way to dark. But I waited 10 minutes. (directions say if there is a lot of gray you can wait a little longer.) after the last 10 minutes I was ready to hop in the shower and rinse. I really don't think it takes that much longer just a little planning 3. Other products I have tried usually result in my skin feeling like my beard is a itching and burning. So far after my first try with this, no reaction. 4. the amount of product seems a bit more for you money, the box is the same size as other products but, the tubes in the box seemed larger to me. 5. after my first application, only a slight amount of gray is showing and that is perfect for me. I hope this help, so far I am quite happy with this product.

I use this as an alternative to the every day, typical and more popular brand that was irritating my skin. Unfortunately, this was much messier, made bigger stains on my skin and irritated my skin, just as much. Be aware of this product. It is not more sensitive than the others.

For years, I used Just for Men without any issues—until they changed their ingredients. After that, I started having severe allergic reactions: red, itchy skin with bumps that lasted nearly a week. Not fun. I then switched to Grizzly Mountain, which was gentler on my skin, but it took 2-3 applications to fully cover the grey, and I had to wait 24 hours because it left a greenish tint in my beard at first. It worked, but it was a hassle. This new product, though? A home run. No skin irritation at all, full grey coverage with just one 20-minute application, and it looks completely natural. It’s lasted a full week so far, and after two weeks of use, I’m seriously impressed. If you’re looking for a beard dye without harsh chemicals and all the drama, give this one a try. Good luck!

I love this beard dye, like others I’ve had terrible reactions to, the worst being the most popular JFM brand and ended up at hospital with that. This dye is great and I never get a single reaction even with my sensitive skin, I have been using this for 7 months. I would suggest the dark brown as it’s close to black when dry but I’ve found it does not leave a blue tint like the black ones and looks natural ( for me it is perfect ) I have built up a base colour though so maybe for a first time user the brown may not cover grey straight away. I would suggest leaving it on for double the time or even use a hair dryer to accelerate the process .

There are two main reasons why the product does not meet my expectations, first, it takes so long to apply, and second, the color is not long lasting.
