My 16 year old son is new to boxing and is about 6 months in. I decided he needed his own to replace the ones being used publicly in the gym. The ones in the gym are also made by Palladium but they are the kind with the nose bar. So far he loves this headgear! he says it's much more comfortable than the nose bar kind. As a fair comparison however I have to say that it does offer less protection in exchange for comfort. On his 1st day sparring with it he did get a little nose bleed. Grant it, he was sparring with a fighter 2 fights away from going pro at the time just to get some tips. Since then he has only sparred with others in his same experience range and has had no problems. All in all I have to say this is quality headgear. Good leather, good lining, and great comfort. Even after a little blood loss my son still says he'll take this over the previous option any day.**Update 3/12/17**It's been almost a year and the equipment is holding up great! Some of the paint on the strap that you connect with the buckle has cracked and peeled due to the pulling and stretching of buckling it but that is to be expected with time. Stitching is good, and the overall quality of the product has not changed since the 1st day. This is so good that I just ordered and received a 2nd one for back up or just in case. It's not an open face so you will have some slight vision issues as you will with all cheek protectors but this one is better than most. Qualitywise, it definitely can absorb a punch! It will protect you from cuts and help lessen the impact of hard punches during sparring. The occasional bloody nose however will be up to your ability to not get hit squarely in the face. Luckily there has not been another incident since the one mentioned in my original review. The product is superb and highly recommended. Great headgear as far as performance and I just have to say LOOKS cooler and slicker on the head than all the others.On a side note, my son just won state golden gloves champ. I'm sure coaching and hard work had the most to do with it, but Contender products have been with him every step of the way.

I bought this headgear and was not sure if it was going to protect me well enough. It is a very good item well padded and comfy.Highly recommended for sparring ocassionaly.

Fantastic headgear, period, despite the remarkable pricing. Many of my training partners and I bought this on recommendation from another partner. We have all had various gear previously (Title, Ringside, Everlast, etc.) and love this. Takes hits well and is comfortable and extremely well-adjustable. I especially love the low profile in the rear; feels light and open but extremely secure.

The headgear was great! It was $200 and now its $50?! I got it yesterday and I put it on and it feel great and Great protection ,It met my expectations and this headgear is better then the Title head gears honestly.... It came just in 2 Day haha. Im REALLY SATISFIED .
