The Purpose Driven Life : What on Earth Am I Here For?

I guess it shouldn't be, given that everyone I've known who's already read this book raved about it, but the strength of this book was a surprise to me.I was put off by reading in the blurb that "this book is necessary to your Bible study" (or some similar words) as I am uncomfortable with self-proclamations from people regarding God's word, but from the first chapter/day I was won over. This book is inciteful and challenging, helps you to address your position in your relationship with God and useful to developing it.I am not as far through it as I would be if I stuck to the 40 day journey it suggests (though I was most indeared by the thought of following in the footsteps of the many 40 day journeys in the Bible) but am taking my time to consider each "day"'s words, and am finding it fulfilling doing it this way.I have, since buying a copy for myself, gone on to buy 8 more copies for other people, and will need to buy some more soon - worth reading, and once you do I'm sure you'll agree it's worth sharing also.Enjoy

I have found this book very inciteful and encouraging in my journey with God. It tells us the truths from the Bible about who we are and what God's purpose for our Lives is. It is a forty day journey, whereby you read a chapter each day and then think about how relevant it is to your daily walk with God. Also, it discusses the importance of building our relationship with God everyday and how we do this through varied types of Worship and Prayer. Another important facet is building close relationships with fellow believer's through Church and smaller fellowship groups.Finally, if you are searching for your purpose in Life and want the answers to to questions such as "What am I here for? and What is my purpose?" then this is a good book to find some of the answers.

Feeling like I was bobbing about in a tiny boat in a big ocean thought this book may help find direction. So far I've found it very inspiring and it stirs the emotions. You read a chapter each day and it gives you questions to mull over. Even if you don't believe in God I think you would find this book makes you stops and look at the world differently. I am delighted I bought the book and would think it would be a good present for anyone in this mad, greedy and selfish world.

I have had many wonderful things to praise from reading great books and this would be another life changer. I am sure that whether you have faith or not you can use your own skills and passion to do anything and worthy things at that. This is the point. This book reminds us that we are here for a reason and we can harness that reason in order to create untold wealth and as this occurs we can give much of this away in order to share the greatness of our rewards. For me it is common sense to understand the actions explained in this book, but to many it may appear a serious challenge to grasp? Either way it is a great read and one in which at the very least it warms the heart and demonstrates deep compassion which we could all learn alot more of so in that sense it is well worth reading to remind ourselves to be kind to others.Greg De Tisi

I read "The Purpose Driven Life" about 5 years ago after going through a time of considerable upheaval in my life. I had lost my health and had to give up my job abroad and return to the UK. I had also been away from God for about 4 years and then returned to faith, but was still needing direction and affirmation.This book helped me to refocus on what what is most important in serving God. After a failed stint in ministry, I was suspicious of Christian people telling me what to do or what to be, but Rick Warren avoids the temptation to pigeonhole people and instead encourages them to listen to the desires and dreams God has placed in their hearts, and to look at whom God has made them to be. For me, this was transformative: I began formulating a vision which has grown over time and has always been in line with my God-given passions rather than any kind of formula, tradition or other people's ideas. For a while, the fun had gone out of my Christian life, but what has followed my reading of this book has been exciting, fulfilling and thrilling!In short, this book has gone a long way towards restoring me, and helped me to discover God's plan for my life. If you have had enough of being a pew-warmer or are trying to get to grips with God's plan for you, this book will help no end!

well, what can i say about this book, even though, i don't like reading any books at all, but something inside me telling me to buy this title after exhausted couple weeks to think about whether i should buy it or not,no one else introduce to me the slightest hint or advice to recommend this book, but some reason it feel through my heart. so instead i am reading this book, i bought audiobook version from my mobile phone so i can listen anytime whereever i go.then i bought some of the rick warren books as well, he is transforming everyone else including me.

I’m still reading the book and I don’t normally leave reviews, but this book really does deserve the full 5 stars. I have spent my lifetime looking for my purpose, this book now helps me lead a better, more meaningful life. And it’s not just for New Born Christians or Evangelists it’s for everyone. Because the question of purpose is a universal question that applies to all of us.

This book was recommended by a Christian friend and has become invaluable. We meet, 3 times a week, to discuss what we've read and we encourage each other to live our lives for the glory of God. We are now nearing the end of our 40 days of reading but we are going to read it again with other believers. I have bought several copies of this book and passed them on. Highly recommended!

A must read book. One should know the purpose of their life. This book changed my life 15 year back and I am living a blessed life after I got to know the purpose of my life.

This is an excellent book to read. It gives motivation to know your real purpose in life.
