Impressive technology in a small, comfortable form factor
We purchased the Oura Oura Ring 4 as a Christmas gift for our 20-year-old son, and it has quickly become one of his favorite gifts. He’s very interested in understanding his body better, and this ring gives him exactly that without being bulky or distracting. The first thing he commented on was how comfortable and lightweight it is. Unlike a smartwatch, he doesn’t feel the need to take it off during the day or while sleeping, which makes it much easier to wear consistently. The sizing kit was definitely helpful, and once the correct size was selected, the fit was spot on. What really stands out is the amount of data and insight the ring provides. He loves being able to monitor things like sleep patterns, activity levels, recovery, and overall wellness in one place. The app presents everything in a clean, easy-to-understand way, making the information useful instead of overwhelming. It’s more about trends and awareness than obsessing over numbers, which I appreciate. Sleep tracking has probably been his favorite feature so far. He’s been genuinely surprised at how detailed the sleep insights are and has already made small adjustments to his routine based on what the ring is showing him. It’s encouraging to see technology used in a way that promotes better habits rather than distractions. Battery life has been solid, and charging is quick and simple. He also likes that it doesn’t constantly buzz or demand attention—it quietly collects data in the background and lets him check it when he wants. Overall, this was a great gift and feels well worth it for someone interested in health, fitness, and self-awareness. If you’re looking for a wearable that focuses more on wellness and less on screens and notifications, the Oura Ring 4 is an excellent option. Our son absolutely loves it, and it’s something he uses every single day.

100% better sleep
I’ve been supporting Oura since it was a kickstarter. I had the version 3 and decided not to upgrade but since my SO lost her ver 3 I gave her mine and ordered this. If you’ve never had an Oura ring: this product is amazing. So comfortable, more so than a watch. The app is great, I’ve learned so much about sleep habits, what to do and not to do for sleep. Lovers of science will like this, you can literally experiment and see the exact results for yourself. Accuracy: I would say this is 95% accurate. Again, I’ve been using this for about 5 years. So I’ve seen the accuracy improve IMMENSELY over the years. Version 4 is the best yet. Better than any other sleep tracker I’ve tried and I’ve tried a lot. The biggest inaccuracy is every now and then I’ll get up to pee in the middle of the night and it will think I woke up for the day. Sometimes it knows I just went to pee sometimes not. Since I noticed it, I take my ring off if I get up to go to the toilet and it fixes the issue—just don’t forget to put it back on! Key info for consumers: the fit is slightly larger than the version 3. To be exact I would say the version 4 is about half a size larger. So the new size 7 for example, would be a size 7.5 on the old version 3 and older models. The new size is great for me. My old ring was snug on my ring finger. So now I can wear the new one on my pointer finger and even middle finger depending on how hot it is. It all depends on the temperature outside due to our hands expanding/shrinking in heat/cold. Hot days I’ll wear on my ring finger, cold days I can wear on my index or middle finger. Conclusion: I love the Oura ring. It’s more comfortable than an Apple Watch or a woop in my experience. Way, WAY more comfortable. It’s also very accurate and the info is extremely useful. It’s increased my understanding of sleep, the importance of exercise for sleep, and dare I say, made me a better person. Getting better sleep takes effort, and this is merely a tool to help you do that. Getting better sleep can 100% make you a better person and I speak from my own experience.

Read this review if you are considering the Oura ring!
Let me start by saying I REALLY wanted to like this ring! I wouldn’t have spent so much money on it if I wasn’t all in! My first disappointment came from, just learning/realizing that the ring did not have the functionality that, I had understood it to have. Does it track your heart rate? Mmmmm… sort of. If you are hoping for it to track your heart rate while you are exercising, you are going to be sorely disappointed. It does heart rate readings every 10 to 30 minutes. No matter what you’re doing. That is one reading every 10 to 30 minutes… Which by the way you have no control of so it might be 10, it might be . So if you’re hoping to capture your peak heart rate while you are exercising, good luck. There is a function where you can record your workout and, I thought maybe that would be a workaround but no, all that really does is, record your path with GPS tracking to give you a visual of the route you took. And it’ll take a couple heart rate readings but, again, not at any meaningful regular interval while you are exercising. There is a manual function to check your heart rate which, has to be selected in the app and then it asks you to stay still for 30 seconds so that it can take your heart rate… And again, if you’re exercising, and you want your heart rate being tracked, you can’t stop everything and pull out your phone every few minutes to force it to take a reading. And, don’t forget, to also stop and be still so that it can take the reading.🤦♀️ Does it detect when you are stressed? One of the features this ring boasts is, tracking your stress. Supposedly, your body gives off particular signals when you are stressed and, the App puts a lot of focus on the amount of stress that you’ve had during your day. The problem is, it’s wildly inaccurate. It goes further to say that, eating, exercising, or doing things you enjoy can all give off those same signals as stress lol so, it’s not really a very useful metric for anything IMO. It will say I am stressed when I am eating, when I am exercising, but even when I am doing something relaxing and enjoyable like, in my garden interestingly enough, it has correctly detected a few times that I got particular news that sent my stress levels way up. It did pick those up. But, again, how useful is it if, it picks up so much of everything else as stress also 😆 I mean unless you are just a slug and lay around all day, it’s going to report that you had stress throughout the day 🤷♀️ And how about that subscription? Does the ring give basic metrics without the subscription? No. Big fat no. This is my biggest problem with this ring. I didn’t know if I felt like that the subscription would be valuable enough to me so I made sure before I purchased it that, if I didn’t want the extras of the subscription that the ring would still continue to track the most basic things like, step count. And, it reports that it does do that. HOWEVER, what they fail to mention is that, they don’t make that data available for you to see anywhere anymore lol and, it no longer updates Apple health or whatever other app you are integrating in with. So, it does NOTHING without the subscription. The only thing it will do is give you these silly readiness scores for your day. If it feels like you got a good nights sleep then it will give you a good readiness score for the day and a good sleep score. But you will see absolutely none of the data that went into building that score. No more steps, no more heart rate, no more anything. That’s IT. You can buy a ring for a fraction of the price that gives you all way more functionality, WITHOUT a Subscription. The way they make it sound before you purchase is that the subscription gives you a lot of extras. And I was willing to pay that if I felt like those extras were really valuable but because the data is so wildly inaccurate, I didn’t feel like it was particularly valuable what I thought I was getting as an “extra” From the subscription. Had I known it wouldn’t do the most basic thing to count steps without a subscription, and actually show them to me either in the app or by writing them to Apple health, I would have never purchased this ring. You’ve been warned! Good luck!

Oura ring review
Loving my ring. Easy to set up. Tracks everything. I love the color cause black goes with everything. Fits awesome on my right index finger and has an awesome battery life. Makes it easy to track my steps without having my phone on me as well. I wear it to the gym and train in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class with it on and it tracks everything.

Oura ring charger. Piece of crap.
The ring is great but I’ve had issues with the charger from day one. I finally had to break down and buy a new charger. There is no support to talk to anyone who we bought it from , so I wouldn’t suggest buying from where we bought.

Awesome little piece of tech
This thing is great! Honestly wasn’t sure at first but based on recommendations from colleagues I wanted to try it out. As it gets to know you, it gets smarter. Around the 3rd week of wearing it, I woke up one Sunday and it said “Major Warning signs.” Well that’s interesting. So I went about my morning, sipping my coffee, had some breakfast. But I did feel a little off. A few hours later…BAM! The Hershey squirts hit hard and didn’t stop all day. Took a nap, woke up, more squirts. After some pepto kicked in, I got a good nights sleep. Next day, it changed to “minor warning signs.” Still felt off but at least the fondu butt fountain had turned off. Stayed home from work for a day and all was back to normal. It also tracks a ton of other stuff. So much so that my wife who also bought one stopped using an Apple Watch. Who wants to charge something every day anyway? This lasts a full week.

Gen3 was better
It does all that it claims to do except the battery doesn't last. When I first got it, the battery lasted at least 5-6 days. Somewhat longer than gen3. Now, not even a year later, it only lasts 2 days. I charge it every night while I shower and put it on only after it says it's at 100%. I'm not doing anything different than with the gen3 ring, same phone too. The app isn't great either. It used to be easy to see stats and now it's like there were 3 or 4 teams competing on the interface and no one could decide who won, so they took all their ideas and mashed them together. Circles at the top for whatever (scroll right/left), tiles that you scroll down through, and then some of them are collapsed so you have to click "more" to expand. Can't reorder them or hide some to only see what you want in the priority you set based on your health goals. But that's a separate issue. The ring itself is very comfortable, low profile, and looks like a nice piece of jewelry. I got the black and wear it every day, no scratches or anything that I can see, except along the edge, the finish is wearing off. It goes with everything. But knowing what I know now, I would have stayed with my gen3. The battery life and app are the biggest disappointments for what could be a great health tracker. Not sure I'm getting as many insights from it because the app is so bad; I feel like I got more with the prior version.

Love my ring
I love my ring. I have POTS and use this to track my heart rate and health. It’s been months since I got this and I still use it daily, I’m rough with my hands and the color looks perfect still, I ordered black. The step count isn’t 100% accurate if that’s something that’s really important to you. Chargers extremely fast, I love it. It’s not cheap but I have no regrets for my health needs.
