gift for someone and they were pleased as was i.very nice quality book.most of it is in japanese but the most important thing for me was the art so not much problem.

Beautiful, exquisite book! The cover is a work of art. The contents cover illustration, stained glass, fabric design, wall paper all by Clarke. The only painful thing for me is a text mostly in Japanese. This book has English translations too.A gem-like book of Clarke's work although other related artists are illustrated too.Not a definitive book, but so nice to look through.

Beautifully produced book. Excellent source book for Clarke's illustrations.

I just took delivery a copy of this and it's lovely. Really well designed and printed (so much so that I'm thinking of buying another copy to dismantle and frame individual pages). Ideal for a beginner or confirmed fan, it has lots of obscure stuff (Share certificates etc). My only caveat would be that although it has English text as well as Japanese, you get one line of English giving the title of the picture and a paragraph of Japanese which is obviously commenting on the picture. When it loks as nice as this, it doesn't really matter...

Beautiful images, many of which I hadn't seen before. One con is the fact that there is a lot more in Japanese than there is in English, so it's not as bilingual as I had thought.

Não é um livro tão belo quanto o do Alphonse Mucha (também da PIE, e o que me motivou a comprar este), mas ainda assim digno de admiração. Algumas pinturas do autor não são tão belas assim, mas todas têm um aspecto bem único. Também notei que certas pinturas não estavam impressas numa qualidade ideal. Em todo caso eu diria que vale a pena, eu paguei salvo engano 200 reais.

PIE books are always a feast for the eye, and being a Harry Clarke fan I was thrilled to see that Hiroshi Unno wrote one about this marvelous artist. The cover (or rather, the slipcase) has a shiny effect which makes the colours dance and pop. As for the book itself - whilst it is not the complete collection of all of Clarke’s illustrations (I missed 1 or 2 Faust illustrations), it has nearly all well-known works and there is so much in it that is rare and never-seen-before! It contains not only the Poe and Faust illustrations and the famous stained-glass artistry for example, but also works made for friends and commercial work commissioned by companies.As for the text - it is bilingual, meaning both in Japanese and English. There is a nice snd informative biography on Clarke, and each chapter starts with an explanation or theme. Though there is more information below each individual illustration in Japanese, the camera function on the google translate app can make short work of that! So please do not let that stop you from buying this gorgeous book!
