Tree I.V. injectors are designed to drain at the natural percolation rate of your soil which is usually 10-15 minutes. 5 gallons of water soaks about 5 cubic feet of soil, wicking outward in all directions. For trees with a drip line of 6 feet or more, you need to start watering at the drip line to promote outward root development.

Q: Does this come with the piece to drill the hole in the bucket?

No the picture is miss leading. How is order from Amazon.Cheaper than from company.You need one 1x3/8 . Water drains out in about 3 minutes. Even tried drilling a 1/8 hole on the plug, slows down .

Q: does the spike go in the ground and then the bucket with the gromet installed placed over the spike?

Yes. Also, there is an injector cap that must be removed prior to setting the bucket.
