I’ve owned this device for about a year now and am surprised at how much I enjoy reading on this kindle vs the paperwhite. No doubt the paperwhite is a superior device (the paperwhite has more features) but this kindle is smaller (it can be held with a few fingers easily) and is so lightweight that I can hold it comfortably while reading on the treadmill or lying down. I didn’t think the weight mattered to me but I guess it does since I use this device almost exclusively over my paperwhite. This device works seamlessly with my local library so I can borrow titles and read on it regularly, too. The thing that initially turned me off about this device -its lack of weight, is the thing that has me reaching for it more than my tablet or paperwhite. If you’re looking for a portable reading device, I can’t recommend this kindle enough.

I got this Kindle for my wife for Christmas, and it’s been a huge hit. She loves to read, and this Kindle hits the perfect balance of lightweight, responsive, and easy to use. The 16 GB storage is great and she’s already filled it with hundreds of books and still hasn’t come close to running out of space. The screen is clear and easy on the eyes, even in bright sunlight, which makes it perfect for beach days or reading by the window. The compact size and feather-light weight mean she can comfortably hold it for long reading sessions without fatigue. Battery life has been excellent too, weeks between charges with regular use. Setup was simple, and the interface is intuitive for both new and experienced Kindle users. She especially likes being able to adjust font size and lighting depending on the time of day. Overall, it’s been a fantastic gift and has actually made her reading time more enjoyable and convenient. Highly recommend this model if you’re looking for a quality e-reader that feels modern and reliable.

I've been trying to read books again for the last couple of years without much success. In 2025 (and probably 2024), I never finished a single book that I started. That includes self-help, college textbooks, and friend's books! Fumbling with books, turning pages, trying to remember to carry it with me, all of that made it difficult for a working adult with a family to sit down and read, even for a few minutes. Not to mention my arthritis, needing to wear reading glasses, needing a light just bright enough to make out the words, and more. I ordered this Kindle on New Years Day and fully expected to get bored of it in a week and want to get my money back. I downloaded my first book (Included in KindleUnlimited), by an author I never heard of (even though she's critically acclaimed and has had books turned into movies) and started reading. I was INCREDIBLY SURPRISED how easy it was to read on this thing. It's MUCH better than a physical book, by leaps and bounds. I started reading the book on Monday and finished it by Thursday. I can't wait to start my next book! The book was good... and that kept me interested, however... a few things about the kindle made it easy to finish the book so quickly... 1) Mainly, it was how easy on the eyes and the size of the text. I didn't need my reading glasses at all and the text was clearer than any book I've opened in the last few years. 2) It's lightweight and fits in my pocket! I like to (try to) read books of all different shapes and sizes; from large hard back to small and thin paperbacks. It doesn't matter the author's preferred format, this kindle puts them all in my pocket with ease! Plus, one-hand reading is easy, I don't have to "hold back" the other pages while fumbling from page to page. 3) The feel of the screen is smooth and it's easy to turn pages with the same hand I'm holding it in, but even better with a quick swipe of my other hand. 4) It's just the right amount of brightness with the backlight. I can read it without the backlight sometimes, but I prefer the backlight already and my eyes don't strain. It does drain the battery much faster, but I believe I could finish an entire book without having to charge it at all. Overall, this thing is amazing and I look forward to expanding my mind and READING on my spare time instead of playing mind-numbing games on my phone. I do love my card and board games, but they might have to take a backseat. Both my phone and this kindle fit in my pocket easily so if I want to take a break from reading spades and backgammon are always available...

I upgraded from my old 2nd gen kindle. This has a lot of new features! It's back-lit, lightweight, seems very durable, and easy to read. It's much faster and holds many more books. I got it on sale and with a debate for turning in my old Kindle. Great value!

I love this so much. I have had my 3rd gen kindle now for about 14 years. It still works great but I recently went on a cruise and bought this so that my Mom could use my old one for magazine reading. This newest model is the best. Perfect size. It fits in my pocket yet surprisingly large enough to read. Easy to hold and feels like a book. I recommend the handle accessory to hold in your palm but you don’t have to have it. I liked it for reading while laying down. The only thing I missed was color. The book covers display in black and white but I quickly overlooked this once I realized the benefits of the size. It’s going to be awesome to travel with for work. If you are looking for a travel Kindle, this is it! I’m so glad I got it.

I adore this kindle. The matcha is such a fun color. The size is easy to hold in one hand and never gets heavy, even when marathon reading. Refresh rate could be quicker and color options—even just for highlighting would be a game changer. This really is a terrific travel companion or daily reading device!

I bought this a year ago but didn't start actively reading until recently this kindle provides all I need a simple design for just reading its size is comparable to a paperback book and was the main reason I purchased it. Simplistic and easy to just focus on reading without the urge to open apps. I have read a book for a week straight without the need to charge it at 2 to 3 hour sessions a time and short bursts of 10 to 15 minutes the battery life is great. I would recommend this product for people starting off with a kindle just to read but I dont see myself upgrading or the need to upgrade anytime soon as it serves its purpose.

I got my kindle the other day! I got the green macha one! Love the color and love reading it on it so far! I’m considering getting a colorsoft kindle but I’m unsure since I just purchased this one and I love it! I don’t have any graphic novels yet but have always been interested in them so don’t know whether or not to get a colorsoft or if it will just end up being a waste of money for some color ! The battery life on it is decent! I’m glad I don’t have to charge it every day! I read I’d say about a hour and a half to two hours a day! I don’t think the battery is as good as they claim it to be though! Maybe if you don’t read on it is but otherwise I’d say charge every couple of days! Anyhow it’s perfect for what I need it for! My only other complaint is the cost of the ebooks and almost everything you buy is a series so if you want to continue to read you have to give them your money! The best part too is that there’s more books to choose from here and it’s cheaper than a nook ereader!
