Fade to Black: A Doug Brock Thriller (Doug Brock, 2)

David Rosenfelt is my favorite author. He writes the Andy Carpenter series set in Patterson, NJ (I'm from NJ only farther south). I love the legal intrigue genre and this series is terrific. The author also writes stand-alone books each year and they are as good as his series. Fade to Black is the first time the same character has appeared again in one of the author's non-series books -- a sequel, I guess. The main character, Doug Brock, is a law enforcement officer who suffered a serious injury on the job and lost about ten years of his memory as a result. He has returned to his job and is trying to slowly put the pieces of his past back together again. While the subject matters of the books are quite serious, the author has a marvelous sense of humor and witty style of writing. In the middle of some very gripping scene, I laugh out loud at his dialogue. I can highly recommend Mr. Rosenfelt's Andy Carpenter series and his stand-alone thrillers.

I'm loving this series. The first book was a great start to a new series, and this one did not disappoint. It was fast moving and fun to read, a great story with some surprising twists. The writing style is, of course, reminiscent of the Andy Carpenter series, but not quite as silly. (Andy was really starting to get a little annoying... ;-) The main characters are very well drawn and interesting. Doug and Jessie are a great couple (so much like Andy and Laurie). I am looking forward to the next book in the series, which comes out at the end of this month.

Very good writer. He keeps the story moving. Unfortunately his attempts at humor or to be amusing are more suited to young children. I wish he would just play it straight because the lead character is a little annoying.

I loved this book! I love all of David Rosenfelt's books for that matter. This one was full of action, great characters, suspense. Couldn't put it down til I finished it!

This is a new subject for Mr Rosenfelt and I have always loved his Andy Carpenter Books - so I was Very Impressed withthis new Character. My only problem was - my husband found the book and had to read it FIRST . . .

This is an excellent author who spins a great yarn. This book is a thriller and an intricate mystery, a real page-turner.

I enjoy every book Rosenfelt has wriitten. Characters are real and story comes together nicely. Always good reading without vulgarity.
