Great quality scanner!
Love this scanner. Works great with a manfrotto pixi mini tripod that also fits in the travel case as a bonus. Precision face scan accuracy + results too. Would highly recommend the vega for anyone serious about 3D scanning!

Disappointed
I was really excited for this product, because of everything it promised it can do. But sadly just trying to get one scan done was a hassle. I tried doing both fast and HD mode nothing helped. It kept losing its place. I even tried 3d scanning spray and adding hundreds of markers. It would still lose its place even some times not even seeing the markers that it saw 2 seconds ago. While it does advertise being able to go back. Once it messed up. It showed that the part where it messed up from the beginning of the scan. Now my device is stuck on switching mode 50% of the time and the other 50% stuck on not being able to start the scanner itself. Also while it does have a battery it did die quickly and found ,yself having to charge it the whole time I was scanning.

Sorry, not ready for Prime Time
This was a tough review for me. I didn’t want to give this a 1-star review. It doesn’t seem like a 3 star review is warranted either. It is likely going to be returned to Amazon prior to the 30 day period. Here are the reasons… Software. The software isn’t really ready for ordinary use and it is too limited in what it can do. For example, you cannot (seemingly) scan an object in two scans and then stitch the object together by selecting multiple points of commonality. This is a feature that is available for many other scanners. There are features about the scanner and the software that are nice. All scanners lose tracking quite often. This one is no exception. But when it loses the tracking it seems able to pick it up without too many problems. As you scan more points it becomes easier. Generous use of stick on tracking dots helps with the process. Hardware: This is a hefty device. As a result it can get heavy while holding it during a long scan. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing because the device feels very well made and not cheap. The battery life is fairly limited. You can get about two scans before needing a recharge. Keep in mind this little hand held computer is doing some serious calculations. The cooling fan comes to life often during intense calculations. Overall, the scanner comes in a nice case should you need to take it somewhere. Conclusion: The company has a good reputation. This product offers a lot of promise. I only wish they had better refined it before release and finished the software. BTW, you will need to use the desktop/laptop version of the software to do more serious editing of the scanned model. You can only do basic processing on the device itself. There are a lot of other scanners hitting the market that are, or will be, competition to this one. The Creality Raptor series is substantially cheaper than this one and offers blue lasers as part of the scanning process. The Revopoint is also a competitor as well as several others. As a user of other Creality products (3D printer, diode laser) I will probably give their Raptor a try after this one is returned. It just does not measure up to the hype - just yet.
