Rand McNally 2015 Road Atlas United States, Canada, Mexico: Midsize

Paper and Plastic, Part 2
Like I said in my review of this publication's full sized big brother, here on our era of online maps and GPS, I'm still buying printed maps because there are times when I find having both printed maps and online maps at the same time to be helpful. However, for the purpose that printed maps serve in this combination, I find that this midsize atlas is more convenient and serves my purpose better than the full size one. I'm sure this product is bad reviews for its lack of detail, but it's not supposed to have all the detail precisely because of its size. That, and the full size atlas tries to cram too much detail in a few of its state maps, Louisiana and Connecticut in particular. One should use this for a general overview of the state or province, then use online maps to zoom into detail. That said, it is pointless for the midsize atlas to have city/metro maps, which in the case of this product, are in the back of the atlas, in contrast to the full size cousin whose city maps are either on the page of the state in which they're in or directly before or after.

Good size with good general maps
The 2 page USA map does give you a general overview of where you need to go. The rest of the maps are fine but too many useless pages until you get to the actual maps. There are 14 pages to go through (could have put all this stuff in the back of the atlas) to go through until you get to the 2 page USA map--way too much!

Disappointed.
Assuming the Rand McNally name would be the best choice was a mistake. I went to map out my upcoming trip, comparing it to directions from my iPad (Google Maps and Apple Maps), and one of the roads/routes is COMPLETELY missing from the map! (38E at the NC/SC boarder.) My second mistake was using a highlighter in the atlas before this discovery or it would be returned to Amazon. Looks like I'll be using my 2006 Mapquest Road Atlas that I paid $2 for at Big Lots and my iPhone instead. Good thing I'm already familiar with this trip.

Good atlas to make prison escape
Okay for the big overview but to small for detail. We bought for our son who is in state prison so he could learn geography of country since he has been to most of United States as a teenager. Prison officials (ky) sent it back to us, as prisoners are not allowed to have, probably to prevent my son from making a break for it.

:-)
Slightly small, really what I wanted. I love the giant road atlas, but this will do much better in the windy convertible.

convenient
Small, so not all highways and towns posted. Good size and good enough for the size as expected.

Exactly what I needed and the right size for our honeymoon road trip! Perfectly fit in the glove box without being too in the way.

Tiny atlas
The only real problem with buying things from Amazon is not being able to see the size of the product like you would if you were buying it in a shop. That's the problem with this item. The description says "midsize", but for a road atlas covering an entire continent, it's so tiny it's useless. I assumed "midsize" would be the same size as the other Rand McNally North America road atlases I'd bought in stores in the US before, but in reality the dimensions of this atlas are barely bigger than a London A-Z with probably a fifth as many pages.I think Rand McNally are definitely the best road atlases for the US and Canada, but this particular sized one has only 1 tiny map for each state and I can't see how it can be of any real use to someone planning a road trip.I'm now assuming the atlas with the description "2015 Road Atlas (Rand Mcnally Road Atlas: United States, Canada, Mexico) [Paperback]" is the one most people would actually be able to get some use out of.

Good book
Had this book but lost it using it in America, so I knew what a good book it was
